I just bought a 1977 breech lock 50mm 1.4 fd just like this. The blades won't work with the adaptor. and the glass has slight fungus. The lens came in the original box and looks new. I also have the nfd version of the lens dated 1981 and it works great and has really nice color and sharpness. I just can't leave the ssc without trying to fix it. Thanks for this video !

Hi, very good vid I was wondering what kind of screwdriver you're using? Some people said it must be a JIS screwdriver? Could you please tell me what screwdriver you use and if it possible where to buy it online. Keep up sharing your knowledge ❤. Thanks

YOU SKIPPED THE ONE PART I AM TRYING TO FIND ON RU-vid :(( PLEASE HELP ME. from 13:00 you skip the placing of the aperture lever spring assembly thingy. Which then has the metal surrounding that is added on after that is used to tighter the lens onto the camera mount. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS, i cannot seem to get it right :(! @Didier Barbelivien

Any idea how to remove the front ring of the 35/f2 and 100/f2 lenses? Should I use a rubber tool/bend or pry it with a toothpick or..?

Thanks for the detailed analysis sir!!! Without you I'd never solve this rubik cube... Btw I am having a weird issue on mine (it's not the adapter, I made tests) When adapted on my FD to MFT, and the aperture is closed on the lens so I control it with the adaptor, there's an open-close thing when I move the focus. I disassembled and put it back together thinking that something got loose but didn't find it, do you suspect what this can be?

hi Didier, really nice video. helped me disassembling my f1.4 ssc. But somehow i forgot to mark the rest points, and now i cant figure a way to put the helicoids back. Would appreciate any direction or help in figuring out. Also whats the point of removing the brass/bronze bar from the rear, for me the screws are too tight to remove

I spent more then 3 hours trying to reassemble ONLY the helicoid. I’ve got it ! The only way is to use a marking pen and test the different thread entrance points

Great video! I just get stuck at 12:00, where you align the upper lens element, the golden thread and the lower element (with the aperture ring). I understand that, when attached correctly, the golden plate with the gap (lens element) and the golden pin (lower element) have to stick together? However, I just cannot screw the lower element to the golden thread tightly and still be able to move the lens element sufficiently. Could you give me any advise?

I'm sure you have it together by now, but for any future readers the brass tab goes into the slot on the black barrel before the aluminium barrel is screwed onto it. You can just see the brass tab in the video if you look for it at 11:57. It sits loose, and the two screws are put in later, shown at 12:43. Also worth noting that the threads on these pieces are not a single thread, but 4 threads. Thus it is possible to assemble each part in 4 different orientations when the threads bottom out. Only one is correct! This is important for setting the infinity stop at the right place. Note between 11:57 and 12:02 how much the brass tab projects (is screwed out) relative to the aluminium ring, and the relative positions of the notch on the aluminium ring and the brass tab. Make sure the positions of these pieces are exactly like in the video before attaching the depth of field scale piece at 12:06. Also note the relative position of the depth of field scale markings piece cutout vs the notch in the aluminium ring. Again, this piece can be assembled in 4 possible starting positions, and 3 are wrong! If you've done it right, the infinity stop will engage the cutout of the depth of field scale piece when the pieces are screwed to their shorter length.

Thanks for the video. I’m attempting to swap the front element of a broken lens into the body of another lens. Do you think there is a difference in glass size between the two version of this lens? The old bayonet mount 50 f1.4 and the FD N breach mount 50 1.4? Or do you think the front element is interchangeable. Thanks for your feedback!
