This instrument needs more love. I mean really? The bass is very unique but people gather around the cello or violin at school. Which kinda makes me feel a bit left alone but at least people try to play mine. They always ask me how can I play such a instrument, which makes me kind of happy that I get attention. My orchestra is small just to let you know.
NegativeZerøs I agree! I feel like almost every bass-line like instrument needs to be recognized, even if it’s popular already. They need to be recognized in a different way, for cello at least.
Shout out to all the bass players lol, y'all are the backbones of the orchestra (at least ours is for us, we would probably descend into chaos without him lmao)
Lauren H it's the same thing with all instruments really, looking at you hands to see if your playing the right notes is fine every once in a while. But if you look at your hands too much you're looking at your hands more than the music, and you'll probably end up playing something wrong because you don't know whats coming next in the music.
It is fine to do if you know what your playing next and counting. However, it is possible that your teacher is also trying to get you to rely on your ear. It's always ok to look over though if you know the piece.
10/10 bass playing. I also play double bass and it's so nice to see another guy that loves bass playing as much as I do. It's so hard to find double bass solos on the internet. Again great job :D
Hey, I have a question about double bass. I'm a bit unfamiliar with them but I'm trying to make an animation with someone playing it. Since there's no frets, how do you know where to put your fingers on them? Is it just pure muscle memory? I'd assume if your finger's even a slight bit off it would sound off key, so how does that work? I'm a drummer so my knowledge of even regular bass guitar is limited.
Mr. Brock Lee So for the double bass, yea it's based off of muscle memory, and you would also need to know what it sounds like when it's in tune. And yeah if you are just a bit off it sounds a bit terrifying. I will also give you some bonus knowledge on the bass guitar, since it has frets it is really hard to not get your notes in tune, besides if you just didnt put your finger right on the fret or your bass was out of tune. And I think you have heard that the bass is also like the drums. So to answer your question yeah it is based off of muscle memory, and training your ear to hear the right note.
Ah, thanks! So if it's muscle memory and just having a good ear, then more power to double bassists! I'd imagine it would take a long time to learn that.
I just wanna say that this video made me switch to bass 5 years ago and now I just finished my regional concert and am about to audition for all state as bassist. Also this guy’s tone in the higher positions is amazing.
I play the violin, but we need more bass players in the world tbh. There are a lot of violinists and cellos, but I don't see a lot of violist, and definitely not a lot of bass players.
TheSuperGamer Good luck with it! In my small school orchestra of woodwinds, I'm the only violinist, and with it, the only string player. It can get a little bit lonely, and nobody really understands much about your instrument, but it's worth it! Follow what you want to play, and it'll pay off, I promise.
God i just love the deep hum of this bass it pretty much sings to my soul, and makes my ears has an eargasm. Especially when he pluckes the strings hearing the deep soul of it sing to everyone listening
I play bass and watch these videos. I do it becuase it's nice to see comments from other bassists, it makes me feel less lonely lol. There's going to only be one bassist in my orchestra when I go to school again unless someone new joins. I'm trying to get an amp so I can actually be heard, but it'll still be lonely back there. Oh well, bass is worth it. I've been playing for four years and absolutely love it. Say hey if you're a bassist :)
I’m 12 years old and I played the violin for 8 years! I have played duets with cellos, basses, violas, and many more instruments. I love the double bass sound!😊
the bass is a beautiful instrument. i play it in my high schools orchestra and i couldn’t have made a better decision. yes, learning the bass is quite tough and i’m still learning because i’m new to orchestra, but eventually i’ll be like the other bass players in my orchestra. the bass definitely needs more love
I'm a cello player, and I am pleased to see how such an instrument like the double bass can take a melody like de Canon in D and make it sound more warm and lovely. Specially in the minute 2:00 or so. This reminds me that us, low instrumented cad actually do the job when we want to! Loved it! ♡
Watching this made me wanna get back into music. 33 years old, I played drums and stand up base in both school and a non profit organization named sweet strings. I miss those days. I played this song and it's my moms favorite from watching me play as a teen
It takes a lot of talent to make the bass sound really good! He can really make it sound like a cello while I'm here barely being able to play Eb on the G string without making it scratchy. Nice job!
Delightful. Francesco is showing people all around the world that the bass can be a source of great pleasure. Keep playing Francesco and we will keep watching & listening .
ART!!!! THIS IS PURE ART FOR MY EARS!!!!!!!!!!! i could listen to bass music for hours streght! violin and bass are my favorites and this is just beautiful!
Lovely! I am a bass guitar player, and have been interested in playing one of these, and how it compares in different genres. Seeing how it's done without frets for starters! I love the bowing techniques, so much smoother than 'pluck, pluck, pluckety pluck' all the time. I agree with earlier comments, this instrument needs more love than it gets, in the classical world, the violins & cellos get the spotlight, in rock/jazz etc. the guitars/saxophones/trumpets get the spotlight, the bass is just, well, there! But basses are like the brakes on a car... you only notice them when they're not there!
I played the viola (another underrated instrument) for three years, until one day, I picked up a bass 3 weeks before festival and I played better than the actual bass player! I ended up replacing him, and played bass for the jazz band that year. I haven't played in a while but the thought of picking up my instruments again is calming. Although it was a mere accident, picking up that bass was an amazing moment for me.
I need this played at my funeral. And I would like it by bass. DOUBLE bass to be exact. Honestly we should give the bass more love, it's such a beautiful instrument.
I play the bass too and this was very good. Very nice sounding. I honestly have watched this video over and over because it is absolutely amazing. Keep it up
I love how ur playing canon in D; in A. But it sounds great, I have great respect for bass players that can actually play their instrument exceptionally well
I have already started the cello, and when school starts back up again I will learn to play the bass, I know the first eight notes notes of this song on the cello and will use my knowledge of the instrument to get a head start on the bass.
It's not the same it only the same notes but completely different fingerings you are not supposed to use third finger only for harmonics and there are so many positions and you shift all of the time
The awesomeness about playing bass is that you can play any genre of music from classical to jazz to rock n roll. You are always needed and can get gigs anywhere. Props to all players out there ❤
I’m a Cellist. And i really think Double bass needs more love and pieces written for it! For now i’m going to say. Let’s make the Double bass more popular!!! 😄
As a violin player, I personally think the double bass needs more love and attention there is only one I’m my orchestra but next year I will join that other double bassist.
That was so awesome!! I started playing bass a year ago and I just love it so much. I'm not the best right now but someday I really hope to reach your level :) well done!
