Keith: Many grateful thanks. I looked through the manual trying to find custom paper size. Wanted to print 11x14 paper. Could not find any mention of setting custom paper size. Appreciate this video going to the Print and Layout software package to set a custom page size. I'll reserve my thoughts for Canon manual to a different forum. Thank you for the tip on setting paper size

Hi Keith, thank for you demonstration. Is possible print maximum (329x990mm) size borderless? When I set this parameters, borderless print options is not available.

Unfortunately, there are only limited print sizes that will allow borderless printing - these are listed in the printer specs (at the foot of my review)

Thanks for you excellent reviews and demonstrations, you still have this printer which looks great! Does this mean you can get up to 13” wide by 39” long prints? Seems terrific
@KeithCooper

Yes - the max width is set by the printer mechanism, and the max length by software - for this printer it's 990.6mm

This was several ago. I believe it was from Fotospeed in the UK, or it could have been Epson gloss. Not many suppliers cover 13" roll media.

Hi Keith, I know this was done a while ago but I am just wondering about the printer settings for the paper on the printer. I know you create a paper size of 254mm X 990mm but what settings on the printer do you use and if need be do I have to setup a new paper size also on the printer? @@KeithCooper Hi Keith, I have found some rolls of paper but they are Epson S041338 329mm Premium Semigloss Photo Paper Roll. Where do I find the ICC profile, is it from the paper supplier for the Canon Pro300 or from Canon for the Epson S041338 329mm Premium Semigloss Photo Paper Roll? Thanks for your help so far. Great videos and documentation by the way. Regards from Wayne (Australia)
@KeithCooper

Well, you won't ever find Epson profiles for one of their papers on a Canon printer... Look at the paper specs and find a similar one from Canon - then see if they do profiles for the 300 Check also my main [written] pro-300 review for profiles I created@@cherryw56

I followed your instructions but get stuck when selecting a custom paper size in PPL. I enter size 990mm by 330mm but can not get it to register as custom size. I'm using a mac. Any ideas, thanks Ian

Been re-checking what I did (it was last summer) I've just noted that the paper I used was 10" (254mm) In making various custom sizes, 330x990 fails but 329 x 990 works It seems that the max width is set to the same as specified for A3+, so 329mm not 330 mm Does this help? - it seems 330 needs the rear manual feed
@iancrowsonys
@iancrowsonys 3 года назад
@@KeithCooper You are on spot on Keith! I have now tried a 329 width and it works and it also allows selection of paper type and top feed. I did manage to produce a 330 wide using back manual feed but could not choose correct paper. Again, thanks I will contiue to enjoy your videos which are very useful, regards Ian Crowson (I bought the Pro 300 after watching one of your videos and have found it really good)

You may find that the exact custom size needs tweaking - but it works easily enough. However, if this is new to you - practice with smaller custom sizes first - much less paper to waste when you get it wrong ;-)

Another great vid. Did you have to do any adjustments to get the print the way you wanted or needed to different from say a photo for the web or viewing on your monitor. My prints on a Canon Pro 100 come out plenty good as far as matching my calibrated monitor but I tend to play around (experiment) with adjusting my edits (visual copy)for different papers & photos for final out put of the printed photo keeping a notebook with my final for print settings.

No, just make sure that I had the right printer ICC profile. This is an Image I've printed many times before, including a huge version on Canvas upstairs in the house. The secret is good colour management - I've lots of articles all about this. These videos are a very new feature for me and designed to support the written articles. A very good one to start with would be Better photography through printing your photos There are ~1200 articles on the Northlight site - I've been writing them since 2004 - the videos were started in Aug 2020 ;-) I am going through articles to see if I can make short video introductions for more of them, but I'm still mainly a photographer and writer ;-) Hope that's of some help?

Hi Keith, can you give us a feedback regarding to the ink wastage and cleaning cycles? Thank you!
@KeithCooper
@KeithCooper 3 года назад
Very little - this printer doesn't do the more advanced cleaning of the PRO-1000 for example. In this respect it's pretty much identical to the older PRO-10S - that's been around for a while, so there should be a lot more info to find? I only tend to get brand new printers for a relatively limited time, so my usage is not really typical and doesn't give me a chance to build up longer term ink usage data.

Hi Keith, thanks for all the info on the P300. I'm almost sold on it. One question. Have you ever had any problems with roller pressure marks on the paper with the P300? I had one print from a professional printer and when the print was held in a certain way to light, I could see roller pressure marks all the way down the print, very disapointed to say the least. The printer did not use the P300, but some other floor printer.
@KeithCooper
@KeithCooper 3 года назад
Not an issue I've seen at all with the 300 with any of the papers I tested. My personal opinion is perhaps that if someone produces and sells prints using a paper that is so easily marked, then their title of 'professional printer' might be at risk ;-) With any printer model you have to evaluate what papers work well and that's definitely not a good sign. I always suggest to start perfecting printing on some basic papers before trying more varied ones. That and to remember that sometimes a paper just doesn't work well, no matter how great some people might say it is ;-) BTW if you're doing long prints like in the video, take care over the paper feed at the start and end, since that when the feed can be affected by the size of the paper.

it's 39" - 1m is 39.4" No, using an imperial measurement for the spec is very unusual for a non-US only product. I'm old enough to be able to use both systems - I still make better guesstimates in inches than metric, but long stopped doing any calculations or construction in imperial.
