The Olympus cameras have been pixel shifting for years - nice to see others catching up eh? ;)

On the Fuji GFX100S, you can use pixel shift to get 400MP photos (get a good memory card)

Olympus OM-D E-M1X (released in 2019) already has this feature. 50 megapixels handheld and 80 on a tripod. On the tripod they are using the sensor shift. Handheld they use the minor shaking of your hand, while stabilizing the sensor, to make the shot in the perfekt position. Additionally many other Olympus/ OM System cameras include this feature, even the relatively cheap OM-5. I mean yes, 100 megapixels are even more and allow a lot of detail, but it’s not like there aren’t cameras which are using this tech.

Sony A1 pixel shift is JPEG only and anything that moves during shooting is fragmented. Hopefully Canon will give RAW images that are clearer.

Some Panasonic cameras like the gh6 s5’s and s1 and think have this mode for photos where it can take 100mp photos on a tripod and like 80 hand held

Olympus, Pentax and Fujifilm (maybe) have this feature since 2015.

Because 45 MP isn't enough! Pixel shift is limited to static subjects, right? I think they'll do it if they can... I'm hoping for tracking auto detection.

But you can't use 3rd party lenses. And I'm fine with my 80MP high res. And the Canon ibis is still behind.

The problem with that instead of having a higher megapixel camera is if anything is moving in the frame 🖼️ then it's not going to work.

Pixel shift isn’t really practical.. to me it looks like it’s AI upscaled, not really 2x the upscale more like 30%.. and yea there is no way you will make it super stable anywhere outside.. people claim it works best in their basements.. Cool feature, no one goes in depth into why it’s really more of a gimmick.. Really I would recommend buying topaz photo ai and upscale with it, that one works 100% Pixel shift works 15% - after a few tries I never did more tests, and I didn’t get great results - it’s slow to take a picture (multiple pictures)- it’s slow to assemble them - it doesn’t happen in the camera (another thing no one mentions) Camera takes like 10 photos each one 10-30 sec, then software assembles it, takes a minute or a few.. yeah.. I’m out Take a good normal photo, use the raw file and plug it into topaz photo ai - you will be amazed at how much it can do Pixelshift - sounds great, and I was disapointed, and how no one really pointed out how poor it is in practical terms.. I always think how I’m more patient and I’ll make it work.. if your single photo test takes like 5 min per picture with 10% probabillity it works, I’m not interested.. I sort of feel everyone lies on the pixel shift features.. a gimmick, not a reality.. maybe maybe, someone might get something out of it.. Again AI upscale at least does it constantly and it can remove some blur and noise

So what does it say for every version and variant of the LUMIX DC-S5 | II | IIX and the LUMIX DC-G9 | II, which have always had this feature. Not to mention they are more robust in video features too, even more so than Sony… 🤔

What hard drive would you recommend? Laptops only have so much storage, and I don't wanna take it all up with videos.

Get the lumix g9 ii it has 8 image stabilizer and you can do hand held 100 megapixel and it has 2X crop so if your a wildlife guy 100-400mm mark ii will be 200-800mm

Overheating killed the R5, R3 is the best hybrid go to camera. And after all the price difference between R5 and R3 isn’t that huge considering that R5 overheats and has video recording limitations while R3 doesn’t

How about putting 15 fps mechanical in every Canon camera 12 is old as 1dx 1 what 10 years and no Canon bsi stacked sensor below 6 grand smells like Canon cripple hammer

Yeah umm, Olympus has been doing this for years. and with the recent iterations you can get 50 and 80Mp shots off that little ole 20Mp MFT sensor.

Great idea but it doesn’t make sense. Shifting the sensor thus get double exposures can’t double the picture resolution. The size of each pixel on the sensor and it’s position related to the lenses determine color of that spot. Without changing the size, it’s just a parallel shift of the image rather than making the pixel more granular.

Nice. Pentax had pixel shift back in 2015 with the K3ii. Cool feature, due to shake reduction and the sensor being able to move it also doubles up to allow Astro tracking which is also inbuilt into that camera.

Sony A7RV …. Is this channel bias toward canon ? A lot of information is informative but I also feel like there a lot of pushing narrative toward the canon like ( which is fine ) but as a Sony owner previously canon for 5 years I can’t see the r5 being the “best” single camera to own even with I cropped video

Right now canon and Sony are the top brands for cameras but I feel like canon has the slight edge for some reason.

The OM-1 a 4/3 creams the Canon R5 and every full frame model currently available when it comes to IS. Olympus have had these features since 2012.

A lot of talk about features but I never hear about colors. The quality of the pic is related to sharpness but also the reproduction of colors. I shoot Canon because J like their colors straight out of camera the best. Especially on Black skintones.

The olympus em1x brought this out in 2019 allowing a 80mp photograph. Its also on the em1 mark 3 and the new om1. They have lots of features that canon is now trying to catch up on.

One of my favorite new channel discoveries, most of your videos don't apply to me as I don't plan to buy these newer cameras, but I still enjoy the photography content and you've at least influenced my decision to finally get a used DSLR (D3100 at around 160 Euro, I hear it's a great starter)
