Hey Mik, great video, really appreciate your commentary. I currently have a R6 and have been thinking about an upgrade and you have now given me much food for thought.

Well, like I said (hopefully clearly enough), I got the R6ii because I wanted to retire my 5diii as a backup body and needed the write off. I don't know if I would bother taking the loss on selling an r6 to upgrade to an r6ii. However, now that I have two, I do find having two slightly different cameras to be a little annoying...

@@MikMilman How is the R6ii with low light shooting? Does it grab focus in dark situations? How is the high iso? I have a 5dm4 and it has 30.4 mp. It was a huge difference between this and the 5dm3 I have. Are the images sharp and give you room to crop with R6ii? Thanks. Your videos are great.

@@mikem6796 Even the r6 mk 1 is miles better in low-light compared to the 5d's

I struggled deciding between the R6ii and R 5 as a 2nd body to my R6. I chose the R5, mainly because the controls and buttons are all in the same place and UI is identical. I also wanted a 45mp body for when i do landscape and wildlife, though i primarily do portraits and events. In low light situations, I found the R6 is about 1/3 stop brighter at the same settings.

I did an event in low light and struggled to get focus with R6ii and speedlite. Luckily I had 5Diii just in case and it saved the day. So much for advances in technology.

@@pal54321 I had this problem also, BUT!, if you go to menu red/7 and turn exposure simulation "off" you can focus perfectly. You just need to have your exposure dialed in to how you want it. Good luck brother/sister 👍

My buttons are failing on my 5D Mark III, had it for 8 years now. What a solid camera it has been! Finally going to upgrade it to the R6 ii.

Ha ha ha, I shoot with the 5D III and R6, and the set up definitely runs heavy... R6 w/ 28-70 and 5D Mark III w/70-200... super heavy.

I used mine for a full decade as my primary camera. Worst thing to happen was some peeling leatherette. I loved that camera.

I upgraded from the RP to the R6 II, and I was a little bit bitter when the R8 came out, because that was the ultimate upgrade I was asking for and I could have saved $1000. But, the R6 mark II is such an insanely good camera, and I'm future-proofed for video. I'm going to be using it for a long, long time!

@@jusunas yeah, i picked it up on pre-order last year. Even if it was, I know it's gonna server me well for video. I'm getting asked to do video more and more often, and I just need to practice it.

@@Augnos ah. Got it. And that’s true. I want to get a R8 to either replace my R. Or make it my main. But video has been being requested more and more. I’ve been leaning to r6ii

Hey Mik, thanks for this video. It is very informative. Could you comment further on what you hope to setup as an headshot station at your upcoming shoot. I have a conference (first one) in 2 weeks in which I pitched the headshot station to get the job. What would you suggest for a background and lighting setup to be the most effective without a large footprint?
