Bro this video came RIGHT on time! I am coming from Fujifilm (x-t4) and I was worried about this lens not working well for portrait shoots. I think I will be fine. Subbed.

Totally agree with this review. Another big advantage I find is the size and weight of the F4 vs the F2.8. When walking around I would often leave my old EF 2.8 at home, but this lens is so light and compact, I just can't not bring it. Lastly, when deciding between the two RF versions, I did some Bokeh tests at 200 mm and depending on the framing and subject to background distance, the difference in bokeh was minimal. Also, if I really want to blow out the background, I'm reaching for a prime. So I've gotten my first F4 zoom after being a 2.8 snob for over 15 years

I don't have it anymore, got rid of it a few months ago, but it didn't have any discoloring at the time.

I struggled with whether to get the F4 or the 2.8 version, but in the end I felt the benefits of the F4 (size and weight and price) far outweighed the benefits of the much more expensive f2.8. I am mostly a landscape photographer (and some wildlife and birds), and so I would not need 2.8 very often. I have found the low light performance is quite good on my R5 where I can bump up the ISO. I feel like I made the best decision for me - no regrets. My only disappointment is that I can't use a teleconverter with this lens (but then I could not use one on the RF 2. either.

I had these exact same thoughts when I first got the f4 version. about a year later I still ended up getting the 2.8 because I do notice a difference in low light and bokeh. It was a good hold me over. I agree that if you’re a paid professional just get the 2.8 & if your a hobbyist go f4.

Hey! No I haven’t noticed that on mine. The IBIS and IS on my R6 has worked well with it so far.

@@CachedOut Hey! Thanks for getting back to me! I’m not actually talking about the IS working, or any issue I’m having with IS. I’m actually talking about the lens barrel/IS drive in the lens wobbling while detached from the camera. I.E not parking?

Hi, excellent vid. I've been trying to decide between this 70-200mm f4 and the 100mm f2.8 macro for weddings, events and portraits. I have an R6 with the Rf 28-70 f2 and the eos rp as a b cam. Which one would you recommend. Thank you for the info! 💪🏽📸🔥

Hey! Thank you! I personally would recommend the 70-200 because of the reach and flexibility it gives you. It has bailed me out many times during events, especially when I can't get close to the altar or stage. I've also really loved how it performed at some of my portrait sessions. overall very solid pairing to the 28-70

From my personal experience I would say yes. I noticed a difference in sharpness and quality when I paired my RF camera with RF lens. But don’t feel like you need it to get good footage.
