I first discovered this 9 years ago, I love how he seems almost bored with it as he's playing. I'm sure it's a concentrated look, but an eye roll would make it seem like he's so over it!
Thanks for over 400000 views so far! All your views and nice comments has inspired me to finally make my first solo album, which is now available on cdbaby, iTunes and various other digital music download sites. (It will also become available as physical cd hopefully soon). The album is called Axe-Files and includes 9 of my own compositions, plus new versions of Canon Rock with a Twist, and Toccata and Fugue in D minor.
You know, I first discovered this video when I was 14. It's one of the oldest videos that I keep coming back to over the years. I'm now 29. 15 years have past and I don't feel any differently about this video. Everytime I return to it, it's an absolute delight. I still remember watching this as a kid and being absolutely mesmerised by the tapping at the end 😂. This was a massive influence on me as a kid and is one of the reasons I started playing instruments. I hope you're doing well all these years later and thank you so much for this video. Don't ever delete it 🙂
@@mikeyrobinson1509@mikeyrobinson1509 Thank you so much, I really appreciate that! Yes, I'm doing well, I'm not very active on youtube etc. these days, but I play all the time; lots of different stuff. It's so cool that people still comment on this video, and some have asked me to do a new version, but I don't think so.. I will never be able to recreate the magic again.😉 (And I won't delete it) ❤
7 years ago I watched it, some time on those years I've watched it and now, still watching it when I get the time. Still one of memorable versions I've seen.
@121wietse Yes, I am! Do you think I would spend all this time and energy through over 30 years of playing if I didn't enjoy it? I just doesn't show very good when I play, especially when I'm playing difficult stuff (but I'm smiling inside)..
Thanks again everybody for all your kind comments! If you like my music, I'd appreciate it if you would check out my new solo album "Axe-Files"; see more info and links under full video description here.
Spent the last few days looking for this and I am glad I finally found it. Have listened to this every now and then for a very long time, When I need a pick me up I end up coming back to this, one of my favorite Canon Rock versions!
the first time i saw this video on my old Nokia, not sure when but i was in elementary school back then, watching this on 2023 is bring the memories back
cant believe myself that im watching this again after 9 years since first time i saw this. sir, you are really an incredible musician, and this video of yours always been played by me every single day, theres so much joy whenever i watched this 9 years ago. and now i recalled the moment of joy, once again. salute to you sir, thanks for making my childhood filled with joys !
The only man I have ever seen to have not made “the guitar face” whilst shredding. Absolute robotic like perfection in the best possible way. This man is literally a shredding machine.
hello again, i could listen to you play all day, totally amazing, can't praise you enough, we show this to all our friends, and everyone was amazed with the way you can play the different instruments and combine them into 1 medly, instantly reminds me of chet atkin's and tommy emmanuel to name but a few, but you are now up there with them, thank's again, your fans in ireland
Thanks a lot everybody for watching and for your nice comments! I've reached over 350000 views for this video now, plus over a million total for all my videos, and it's amazing, I never dreamed of getting that many views! All this positive response has inspired me to finally start working on a solo album with my own music, so I hope some of you guys will buy it when It's done. :-) Regards, Ketil
Love Canon D, both classical and rock version. Over the years I have watched countless Canon rock vids in RU-vid, but this version has still been my most favourite one. So fun and enjoyable to watch and listen to. Thanks so much Mr Strand!
you are the best guitarrist in youtube I found so far your technique, musicality and creativity is superior to anyone else I seen How come you are not famous?
@steelcrashed Thank you very much! Although of course I very much appreciate all the positive comments and everything: to be honest, I'm kind of fed up with the whole Canon Rock thing now, so I won't be making any more versions, sorry..
12 years since someone shared this clip.. still loving this version until now also, this version is better than the album in my opinion overall, thanks!
@YaKuza0NTSD Thanks! Are you referring to josenildochaves' comment about the Red Special? Well, I've had many similar questions about that guitar, so I guess it's a fairly unknown guitar for those who are not very familiar with Brian May and Queen..
Sir! You were so so so very awesome.... Honestly I giggle when I hear the preceding tunes. Very nice..... I had collected 24 most stunning versions of Canons and this one's makes my current favorite. Just a request if you had the time. If you can play the whole Canon using the 4th guitar you've played. It really makes my mind awake and energetic when coding. You were very good. How I wish I had the talent like that which is none, none at all.
My most sincere congratulations! You are incredibly good and it is a pleasure for the ears listen your performances on the guitar. Sorry for my bad English Greetings from Sardinia Island (Mediterranean Sea) i miei più sinceri complimenti! Sei incredibilmente bravo ed è un piacere per le orecchie ascoltare le tue esecuzioni alla chitarra. Scusami per il mio pessimo inglese un saluto dalla Sardegna (Mar Mediterraneo)
This is absolutely amazing. The beginning of the song was stunningly beautiful. The rock genre following was stunning. The jazz was amazing and suited the style of the genre as well as the country. Overall, I am very impressed by your technique, song writing and knowledge of music theory and your instrument! you have a mark of a true musician. Must have taken you decades to get to the level of playing and composing. I hope to be as knowledgeable and skilled as you are soon. please reply ;D
I Forgot I was even subbed to you until I was going through my subscriptions. I remember the first time I heard this a couple years ago and it gave me goosebumps, listening to it again after so long gave me the same reaction.... Top job man :) need a video up soon, maybe this track again with some more of your own flavour added to it???
Thanks! Being a great Brian May/Queen fan, I love the guitar of course, but it's not for everything or everyone. It was kind of a coincidence that I decided using it for this video, otherwise I mostly use it for Queen/May stuff (obviously..) I have a lot of guitars, and this is probably not the one I bring along to a regular (non-Queen) gig. The neck is quite large and heavy and not the easiest to play. I think it sounds great, but not for everything, it won't sound like a strat for instance..
@dodo4hire Ok, I'm not sure what you mean by broken arpeggios, but actually I use a lot of arpeggios and tapping (maybe not "active" enough for you, though..? ;-) But you're entitled to your opinion, of course. Thanks for watching and commenting anyway :-)
When I win the lottery, you'll definitely get rewarded, I've spent ten years listening to this wonderful version(s.) It's my go to pick me up - well done
