Watching your videos inspired me to get this camera. I've had it for about 2 days now. Can't wait to see what the results are. Appreciate you. . . Keep hitting us with dope videos.
Actually WP stands for 'weather proof' as only the previous models were marketed as waterproof. That's why the previous models had a fish on the macro setting and the WP has a flower and the WPs manual states that it is NOT waterproof. Anyhow, the general consensus is that the WP is still the same camera, just not marketed as waterproof because of some people diving too deep and getting water damage in their cameras... haven't tried mine under water though.
22:29 But you can use Kentmere 400 and HP5 by scraping off one of the black DX sections. I shoot both at 1600 iso in all my point and shoots. Works quite nicely for DX cameras.
I have one of these cameras along with several Minolta weathermatics. I love these cameras. I got the one in your video at a thrift store. Now they are way expensive on ebay. Your black and whites are really nice. I use flash indoors so my pictures are not flat and under exposed. Your exposures were perfect.
Analog underwater photography is amazing! I have one that’s waterproof up to 60ft, unfortunately the lens tends to fog up. Need to find a fix for that somehow.
Another great video, thanks dude 👏 Excited to see the Spain trip. But seriously, “that guy from apocalypse now with all the cameras around his neck” - That’s Dennis Hopper! Great Actor, Director and……PHOTOGRAPHER! Surely anyone who is in to photography is aware of his work. If you’re not familiar then check it out. He was a super talent.
I got a mint Sure Shot Sleek this past summer and am slowly making my way through a roll of original Agfa APX 100. This has me excited to see the results.
It’s funny, but I inherited this camera from my father back in 2009 and I rarely shot film around that time. I totally forgot that I had half a roll of film in there from then and I just got it developed earlier this year and found an awful photo of me with a Bluetooth earpiece. That being said, it’s a very fun durable camera to have.
regret selling mine often tbh. ive dunked mine and it did well...in the river but I had the A1. ope you mentioned the A1 now. I liked how sharp it was and I had no idea about the 1 stop rumor. hmm Ill have to go back and look at the photos I took with mine. happy new year sir.
I used the camera (mine is labeled AS-1, same thing though) up to 2m underwater while on vacation in Greece. No problems with the camera, the film and exposures came out fine, too.
@@grainynesh6232 I have researched that afterwards, and I can agree. But it seems that there is quite a bit of confusion surrounding this and some people who have owned both versions claim that the cameras actually seem to be the same and Canon could have simply released the WP-1 later without claims of underwater security due to inconsistent performance of the other models. But I didn’t dive deep enough to see what’s what, so could just take it at the face value and agree that those are separate models entirely.
@@dianegative508 I never quite understood why all the manufacturers had different names or even just the numbers (looking at you Minolta) for the same camera back in the day anyway. Just makes it more confusing. I mainly recognised the difference because a friend of mine had the AS-1 and it doesn't have the red grip, but the grey one as well as a "fish mode" on the front dial if I'm not mistaken.
I don't expect that it is waterproof over the warranty water depth. But you could shoot in heavy rain, moisture air or under these dry dusty, conditions without caring about damaging the camera.
hey Jason, I like your subjects. I just fell into your page just because I love analogue myself. However, I have stayed for your personality. You come across as very real. You're a person I'd love to share a drink with. Your comments mean something and I think that's just neat. Cheers mate.

Video @ 5:54 "you basically have 4 settings on your front dial" - Actually, the Nikon L35AW (Action Touch) is better suited for the advanced amateur. It has SEPARATE controls for the Manual Focus, the manual Flash and On-Off-Selftimer. A fully METAL battery cap using AA batteries & a METAL film door latch. Add to that a fantastic & faster f/2.8 35mm lens, plus a 'Leave-the-Film-tip-Out' rewind. But like Jason's Canon, the Nikon uses a DX film speed read. Jason mentioned it, but using the available DX stickers on the film cassette, becomes the work-around for those odd folks who shoot other than the DESIGNED BOX SPEED
I had a WP-1. Never shot any film through it other than to test it for resale on eBay but it was a very nice film P&S. I sold it back in May last year. I'd be funny if you we're the one the bought it lol.
I have one of these it has chromatic abbreviation like a star burst filter attached. BTW I often wonder why you don’t drive an old Chrysler neon to your photo shoots to give the car journey an old analog feel too 🤔
Damn. I regret not buying this camera. Last year, I had this and a Sea & Sea MX-5 II in my hands. But I went with the Sea & Sea because it is waterproof. I got some *decent* photos in Alaska with it last February. But, this definitely looks like it takes a better photo.
12:04 aint no way Caleb got the Oppenheimer on bro💀💀💀 (Edit: I just noticed that both of them got the absolute Los Alamos threader hats. Power to them. Those are some really cool hats)
“Wit' the Sure Shot, sure to make the bodies drop Drop and don't copy yo, don't call this a co-op” 😂 Sorry, I’m Gen-X & anytime I hear someone talk about a Canon Sure-Shot, all I can think about are the lyrics to Bulls on Parade
Do anyone know how to look at his portfolio that he is always talking about? I really want to take a minute and just look at all the pictures he has taken
LOL I just pre-install DX code sticker on HP5+ *when it arrives from the seller*. I never shoot it at box speed, just like I only shoot Fomo 100 at 400.
Very good images, and … nicer than Caleb’s with is fancy SLRs IMO. You would not be the first person to posses a “special use” camera, FYI, should you elect to keep it. One more thing, anyone who picked up a copy that came with the original strap (matching red) knows it’s an underwater camera due to the strap being ridiculously long. The implication being that with a many-feet long strap you can more easily snag it if it’s headed out to sea or to the bottom of your mistress’s pool, both equally dangerous.
I swear, is this the only spot to take photo in LA? So many youtube bloggers i seen at this exact same spot take pictures of the exact same thing lol. Come to the HOOD brother! Either way love the context my dude.
Oh hell no. I had a WP-1 I used at waterparks with my kids. Total immersion underwater in the wave pool. I have some great shots take under 4 feet of water. 🙂
Fascinating note of generational differences: in 1960s Indiana, 6th graders didn't have lockers. Elementary schools, at least those outside of big cities, didn't even have lockers. Books and papers were kept in your desk because you were in the same classroom all day, so your desk was yours. They weren't shared. So I didn't have a 6th grade locker combination to fail to remember, here 50-ish years later. So, how about some more large format videos? You guys are starting to look a bit... soft, from carrying those minature cameras around. Hey, I'm just thinking of your health. Want to keep you going, you know?
I sent you a message on Instagram but I also have the WP-1 (inspired to get it from the Pacific Northwest video). I 3D printed a cap to protect the front plastic area. Lmk if you want me to print some and send them your way
Aren't the A1 and WP1 exactly the same camera? I certainly took my WP1 underwater lots. I can't really justify the cost of shooting film these days so sold it recently. Maybe thanks to you the prices seem to have shot up :)
