Cómo Santa María resucitó en Coria, una aldea de Sevilla, a un niño que acababa de morir. "Entre todas las virtudes que se han otorgado a la Virgen tiene la de guardar bien las cosas que se le encomiendan." Que Ella, la bien guardada, puede guardar bien, sin duda, lo que se confíe a su custodia. Y por eso, si Dios me asiste, diré un gran milagro que hizo Ella, que muchos otros más ha hecho. En Coria del Río, junto a Sevilla, ocurrió este milagro en la época en que Abu Yusuf Ya'kub, tras cruzar el estrecho de Algeciras, invadió la tierra de Sevilla y sus huestes quemaron muchas aldeas. Allí vivía un buen hombre que tenía un hijo pequeño al que amaba tanto como a su propia vida; al niño le dio una fiebre y a los tres días murió. El padre, presa del dolor, se abofeteaba y mesaba sus cabellos, dando muestras de gran duelo, y decía: "¡Ay, hijo mío, cuán solo me dejas! Quisiera que me tuvieses como yo tuve a tu abuelo, mi padre, que me dispensaba generosas mercedes." Y cuando estaba diciendo esto llegaron allí los moros que, en sus correrías, atacaban y expoliaban cuanto se les ponía por delante; los de Coria salieron huyendo atropelladamente, abandonando sus casas. Nuestro hombre se disponía a sepultar a su hijo cuando, al ver la desbandada, huyó también, encomendando a la Virgen bendita el niño y todo cuanto tenía entre gemidos y sollozos. Escapó el hombre, y los mozos, que saquearon todo el lugar, no entraron en su casa ni la tocaron; mientras los otros perdieron cuanto poseían allí, el buen hombre no perdió ni tres ochavos. Pues en su casa había entrado en seguida la Señora que es dechado de bienes, había devuelto la vida al pequeño y había guardado con tanto celo todo lo demás, que cuando el hombre regresó a ella no echó nada en falta, ni siquiera halló las puertas forzadas, sino que encontró vivo a su hijo, al que preguntó qué había sucedido, cómo y cuándo había resucitado, pues él le había dejado por muerto, y el chiquillo le explicó que había estado con él una Señora que le protegió de los moros y se cuidó de conservar bien todo, de que nadie tocara nada ni dañase la cama, la mesa o el escaño. Cuando oyó esto el buen hombre, como era persona cabal, hizo llamar a sus vecinos y explicándoles todas estas maravillas, alabó con ellos a la Virgen gloriosa por su bondad, y todos cuantos fueron informados por ellos de lo sucedido bendijeron su nombre y festejáronla con algazara: allí se derramaron muchas lágrimas de alegría. *********************************

For at once the Lady Full of Grace entered that house and quickly gave the boy life and protected the other things so that later the man found nothing missing in his house, and the doors were not even broken down. He found his son alive and asked him what had happened, when and how he had revived, for he had thought him dead. The boy told him that a lady had been with him who had defended him from the Moors. His possessions were well protected, for they did not touch them, nor do any harm to the bed, the table, or the bench. When the good man heard this, as he was very forthright, he went to call his neighbors, and after he had shown them all these marvels, they gave praise for them to the Glorious Virgin. All whom he told of it blessed Her name and held a great festival for Her, and many tears of joy were shed there.
