On May 1st, 2013, the Union Pacific Railroad removed the 1940's era (approx)
Southern Pacific Cantilever Signal Bridge from the town of Tehachapi as it
upgraded it's communications and signaling system. Join a group of rail fans,
watching from the restored historic Southern Pacific Depot and museum, as
the UP Signal Crew puts cutting torch and heavy-lift crane to the beautiful old
signal tower. Unfortunately, another piece of classic railroad architecture
passes into history, however, rumor has it that a local Tehachapi resident
has salvaged the signal bridge, and may place it on display on his property
near the famous "Tehachapi Loop", just a few miles outside of town!

Thanks for this --- you happened to catch my husband and two other volunteers with the Depot's "Tuesday Crew" watching. Nice catch! Tehachap

man I hope that the resident in question does keep and restore this thing in his backyard! that would be epic! It's good to see at least one full signal cantilever be saved by at least SOMEONE! it's better than being scrapped any day!

It's installed at the Burton property (Dave Burton was the original owner of the property) on Woodford Tehachapi Rd. The property still has a sign at the road entrance that says BURTON. It's by Tunnel 10 so you can't miss it. He also has a caboose there on the property.

I believe he erected the sig. brdg at the entrance to his driveway, which is off Woodford-Tehachapi Rd. (East of "the loop")

Yes, he did. And he passed away a couple of weeks ago. :/
