The powerplay let them down and that's on Tocchet. He preaches quality over quantity when it comes to shots. That's on him too

I agree. I don't think Skinner will be good enough to get by Dallas. Really looking forward to a possible Demko and Silvos tandem in net next year, that could be amazing.

The problem with Hughes is he's too small - he needs to fill out. I don't know who the Canuck player was, but there was a play where a Canuck moved in on Bouchard and just whapped him - Bouch slightly side stepped it, absorbed it, never lost the puck, and clamly delivered a 100 foot pass down the ice. Hughes lacks experience and size he'll be ok

Congrats to the Canucks for the dominant season. This is a very good team finding their way. Besides a few idiots the fans are keeping it classy as well. I would have been a Canuck fan for the rest of the way if it went the other way. Great things coming in the future Canuck fans. 👍

People are too kind on Petterson. Lets be honest. 1 good shift the entire game of 6. 1 good shift the entire game of 7. 1 goal and 2 assists in 7 games is not 11 million dollars worth

Great season, far exceeded expectations. Demko was not the reason we didn't go further, this teams inability to get shots on net, score goals and a horrendous powerplay is the reason we lost this series. Canucks held a lead for like 2 mins this entire series. If it weren't for shaky Edmonton goaltending the first few games, we would have been lucky in win 1-2 games. Love this team, love the season they had but let's be real here, they did not play well in the post season and struggled to put a full 60 minute effort together. The comebacks were amazing to watch, but this team was winning by the skin of their teeth too often. Can't wait until the last 5 mins to push back every game - going to bite you eventually.

@@PrimeSportsNetworkthey were the better tteam. Look at their 3rd and 4th lines. Not the best or youngest talent. They okayed better together then the Canucks 3rd snd 4th lines. Oilers defense was bugger then we are although it waa close. They outlasted the canucks. While the canucks defense wssnt the problem at all. Oilers got way more goals then canucks from defense

You nailed it guys. How many times did they pass up shots on the power plays? How many open one-timers 5-on-5 from the point did they pass up only to get the puck, slowly stare at the net ,and let the oilers get in the lanes? It's incredibly stupid. I really believed Tocchet was smarter than this, and I really believed they would expose a weak Oilers D and mediocre goaltending. Everyone is talking about Skinner being weak but that Oilers D are just mistakes waiting to happen if you put pressure on them in their own end - which of course they didn't.

This game was lost in the first period and didn't come out with urgency and didn't test Skinner and getting 2 shots on goal with a double minor to end the period just doesn't cut it. Knoblach made the adjustments after game 5 and Tocchet didnt.

not the same team without boeser. pettersson's deer in the headlight campaign continues. i hope he finds a good sport psychologist this summer or his contract will become a bigger albatross for this team than it already is at 7.35. quinn's play is neutralized by the heavy physical play. he couldn't do his thing. i'm curious to see the roster moves this summer.

Tocchet has done a great job bringing structure to the team. However, the lack of offense in his system is a huge red flag. Teams have started figuring out the Canucks (since the all star break) and unless adjustments are made, I see potential for big regression next year.

A huge disappointment for the fans. We don't care if they lose, we care if they show up to play. Last night they didn't show up for the first two periods, and by the 3rd when they did it was far too late. The star of the Canucks was Silovs. Without him it could have been 6-0 after two. This was not the ultimate battle of the year that we expected in the final critical game that they should have won. Oilers had it easy, and that sucks.

Yes and no - I think your team was gassed, especially Miller. For all the bravado and the "McDavid is a baby" and "McDavid is a diver" I'd like, no love, to see FIVE of you Canuck fans who say that lace up skates and try to stay with him for 7 games (all on the ice at the same time). Heck, 7 games you wouldn't last 7 minutes before you'd be doubled over gasping for air. Oiler (as has been said many times) have been through this grind for THREE consecutive years (only team to reach the top 8 three years in a row) - they know what it's like and what it takes to win a series. Vcr is now starting to learn that themselves. They basically blew their load in game 5 and barely won it (last minute goal) and that was it. That game (5) told me then (go look up my other posts) that as long as Skinner didn't crap the bed this series was over. Canucks are a very well coached and good team though but they aren't there yet. GO OILERS!

Character and guts which the Canucks showed in abundance can only take you so far, they didn’t have the proper personnel to make it work. Need guys who can finish, especially under this “system” or quality shots vs. quantity shots. You can’t tell me all those low-shot games were just a coincidence, that’s got to be part of the “game plan”, trying to maintain possession of the puck and keep it out of the opponents’ hands, because Game 5 they had no problem getting lots of shots. Despite all that, they STILL almost pulled it off and tied up an Oiler team with superior talent, superior experience…Gotta give the Canucks kudos, their heart and character took them way further than I would’ve expected playing that particular style of hockey.

Or are Drai and McD just flukes who were the fastest players ever in the history of the NHL to reach 90 points in the playoffs (56 games) not named Gretzky or Lemieux. @KptKrunch9481 Two superstars should have manhandled the Canucks, shouldn't they? But they barely won, except for game 6. This is the problem with the Oilers. They think they deserve to win because of those two players. They will be thrashed by Dallas though.

@@original_poster Oilers had the flu and I guess Canucks are a two man brutal team too then huh? Based on your comments they are anyway. And I guess you didn't watch the game, you certainly don't understand human nature. Oilers OWNED the Canucks last two game, they couldn't do anything - until Ryan Mcleod made a horrendous mistake. Human nature - Canucks all of a sudden got a massive shot of something called ADRENALINE (look it up). You see it in ALL sports ALL the time. Ever watch a Basketball game? You should try sometime - i.e. defending champs Denver had a 20 point lead on Minnesota at home on game 7 - who won? Oilers don't have a problem bud, you do lol

@PrimeSportsNetwork
@PrimeSportsNetwork Месяц назад
@@Starrynova The time to rip Tocchet is 2-3 years from now if the team can't advance past the second round. Not after a season and a series nobody expected the Canucks to succeed in, especially without their two best players in Game 7. I'm not saying his system doesn't have flaws or his coaching could not have been different or better, just that now is not the time. These players don't know how to win a championship yet. It's part of the growth. And part of the problem with the media, is they were expecting too much, even with Brock out. I've been a fan for 50 years and have learned when our team is outmatched or not. All the wishing and hope doesn't change that. Cinderella comes around once in a lifetime. Now comes the fun part. Continue to build this team and grow the prospects so in 2-3 years they can win a title when they will no longer be overmatched.

Hope you're being facetious. You haven't made the playoffs since the COVID play-in. You do realize this is a process, right? All the teams that win the Cup nowadays have to suffer YEARS of failure before they get it - ALL of them. Teams that miraculously get to the finals out of nowhere end up tanking the next year. Canucks had a solid run with a 3rd string goalie - they are on the right track BUT can they re-sign Zadorov or Lindholm? That's the real question.
