Schultz wouldn't be a bad option. He does have a nose for offense and he won't be expected to actually put up numbers, but to be the 2nd PPQB. I wonder if he could be paired with Hughes. Schultz wouldn't need to drive offense or make plays, just need to be cerebral to let Hughes do the magic. That would free up Hronek to anchor his own pairing.
Desharnais played mainly right side in Edmonton. Schultz on EDM or van as a top 4 your not a very good team. Look at his advance stats the last few yrs , he is a Solid 3rd pair n face weak competition n did well. Can play 15-16 mins n some pp.
As far as I know there would be no "bidding" from the Edmonton side. It's basically "come here if you are willing to take sub 1M to play on a Cup contender looking to avenge a Game 7 finals loss, you'll probably be 3rd pairing but could possibly move up to play 2nd pairing with Nurse."
Nobody in Edmonton wants Justin Schultz back!!! He was booed out of town. The only people talking about bringing him back are you tubers with nothing else to talk about.
