Nice review! You mentioned in the video that you're a Cannondale bike dealer... What do you think of the new Tesoro Neo Carbon 1 e-bike? It is also carbon fiber frame and weighs in at about 35 lbs. nicely equipped. At $6k it's at the same price point of this Canyon Grizl CF9.
I get a laugh at bike shops saying “Canyon is stealing our business”. No, they’re just doing it better than the big name brands. The mom and pop shops need to start telling the manufacturers to put the greed aside and start competing with the direct to consumer brands. The fact of the matter is the big name brands and boutique brands (somewhat) got comfortable overcharging during COVID. Now dealers are overstocked and begging customers to take bikes while direct to consumer brands continue to grow. Where are the manufacturers helping dealers move bikes in a slow market? Instead they’re trying to get dealers to commit to ridiculous allocations. I love my Grizl:On. Realistically the only manufacturer that competes with this bike is Santa Cruz but that bike is $1,200 more and has a lower group set. Why?
First off, great review and appreciate your honesty. I've been riding competitively and leisurely for 35+ years now (I'm 51) and ALWAYS wrench on my own bike, and I do the same for friends and others that ride with me. You could say that I'm also putting the LBS out of business because I'm DIY. Canyon 100% speaks to me with their pricing. Under-priced? No. Don't give me that. This isn't a Huffy you buy from Walmart then throw in the dumpster after a summer of use. $6k for a bike is an investment, you know you're either going to have to work on it yourself, or pony up the extra cash to have a LBS begrudgingly work on it. FYI: I also liked and subscribed, keep up the good reviews.
I have brand S similar style eGravel bike - if you have ridden that one, how would you compare the power and noise from the motor? I have the wireless dropper, and it is awesome... agree very much needed!
Thank you for the honest review of this e-bike. Nice to see that canyon put integrated front & rear lights on this bike, because a lot of high-end e-bike companies skimp on that feature! Do you know how hard it is to pull out the battery on this bike for servicing/replacement down the road?
The lack of lights on some other e-road and e-gravel bikes is hard to understand as it allows them to be integrated with the bike's battery. It just makes sense.
The entire video I was thinking “this guy looks so familiar.” And then I realized, “it’s the guy from the bike shop in Biloxi!” It must feel bad living a place with such bad bicycle infrastructure. Have you considered leaving?
@@TheBicycleRider What a load of garbage - Canyon have been around for years and there are plenty of other direct to consumer manufacturers as well. There are also plenty of repair shop only businesses now as well that don't rely on sales of bikes, clothing or components. Your comment about Canyon killing their own brand is nearly as laughable as you repeatedly claiming fiduciary responsibility in your video.
