My friend and I decided to head out to a local canyon to practice a few different repel and rescue techniques, learning plenty form our mistakes along the way

Thanks for sharing your adventure and learnings with us. One thing I learned with these slippery waterfalls is that microspikes or felt booties (the ones fisherman use it on reef) work great against the mossy and algae covered vertical walls. Be safe out there aloha 🤙

Nice change to the video format, I like it! Always great to share learnings. I love that I can abseil from my couch... if I was doing it in person I'd actually freeze up with fear... but very cool to see without that panic in the way 😆

Not sure if I like it but just trying new things out :) I actually froze up many many years ago on a camping trip when I had to traverse a section of trail with a drop. That’s what got me into rock climbing me canyoning, trying to concur that fear because it was such an unpleasant feeling. I can tell you 100% that there is still plenty of fear there lol

Good to have the explanations on this video of what you're doing on each abseil and you make it all seem simple to do. I'm sure someone could explain to me all the rope tricks five times over and I probably still wouldn't get it. Haha! Nice spot for your training!

Thanks Chris :) I’m not to far off that either, I still bring a bit of rope to work and just practice the knots over and over again to keep them fresh and so they don’t slip from my mind, Might be a rough day out if they do lol

Hey man! I love these canyoning videos of yours that are in this vlog style. I've only been canyoning on guided tours a few times, but I'm really interested in the sport and want to learn more about it, so these videos are super helpful!

Wow that's awesome. I really enjoy being out in nature recently did a walk at fairy bower falls near Bundanoon similar scenery. But I'm Absolutely not good with heights. Definitely liking the videos Cheers Ian

Never been there but just had a look on google and they look beautiful! So much to explore! Hahaha I'm not the biggest fan either, takes me one or two abseils to get into it but totally worth it. Thanks for your support Ian

Awesome video man. I’m from Sydney but living in California at the moment. Which canyon is this? And a random question but what gloves are you using?
@JakeMarcin

Thanks man, This is a canyon in Macquarie’s Pass, south of Sydney. Using $30 Bunnings gloves, work a treat

You have a lot to learn. But I liked the honesty 😉👍

Not a dig, just trying to learn. At the 6 min mark, you remove your partners personal safety device and relocate it. I can't imagine this is ideal. Should you have asked him to do it himself?

Good call out, It’s obscured by the voice over but at about 5:55 I let him know of my intentions which he agrees too, But yes for sure, he could/should have done it himself, good pickup
