I think murphy hogback starts at 19:00 and hardscrabble at 40:00 (based on other videos I've seen, haven't ever done it!) in case anyone else like me is curious about recent footage of these spots. great video, thanks for sharing! love to see a woman at the wheel :)
Been around White Rim 7 times, last being in 2004. Both ways several times each. Always fun and usually took about a week to do it. Going in the dark you missed tons of worthy things to see. I imagine you passed the Lathrop Canyon sign in the dark, where you could drive down to the Colorado River. You didn't have video going out to White Crack either, which is a must see and hike around. I always wanted to hike from White Crack to the confluence, but never had the time. Loved your video going over Murphy Hogback and Hardscrabble Hill. At the top of Hardscrabble Hill is a great hike out to the Fort Bottom ruins. Hot enough one trip we jumped in the Green River. A side trip up Taylor Canyon and a hike around Zeus and Moses is also a must see and do.Brought back a lot of memories. One other thing - always topped off gas at the station by 191 and 313 and took ten gallons extra every trip. Then there was the time I broke the fram of a Toyota truck in half. That was an interesting adventure.
I have to ask. I've been off roading 20 +/- years. Why not set up csmp before dark? I've not bee out west (yet) but is boondocking roadside illegal out there?
There are only 12 legal spots to camp in Canyonlands National Park and you have to reserve them in advance so it is prohibited to camp in an unauthorized spot. We would've probably been fine to do so since we never saw anyone else but didn't want to risk it.
I would had just pulled over off the trail and slept. It’s not like anyone is going to come out at night to verify you’re in your camping spot. Plus you could argue that it was safer to do this instead of having an issue where emergency personnel would be required to gather. Cool experience.
Watched a couple videos b4 I got to this one. Was enjoying your raw style. Literally said “scary as shit” a second before she did on the night time shelf road in the the first ⛺️. I Had a laugh about that. But the second he said “my balls are stuck to my leg” I had to pause, subscribe, and switch to my mobile to write this. KEEP doing what your doing! It’s nice to hear and see regular ADULT non PC content! You two are bad ass’s.
Absolutely fantastic video documentary of the White Rim Trail. The views and time you took to show folks what they are missing and what to expect. You did a great job, and many thanks for doing all the work and having a big time. Like some commented good to see regular folks just giving there all and blunt take on the trip. I just bought a Tacoma and hope the bride and I can make the same trip some day. Just found your channel, so I have to look at others Thanks again for allowing us to come along for the ride. BTW those out the window shots were crazy and terrifying.
Hey thanks so much for the kind words man! It’s hard to please people on RU-vid, and most people don’t watch our channel for the overlanding videos. They prefer short simple reviews so it’s great to get compliments on videos to take a lot more time to put together. You and your bride will be just fine, and it will be one of the most unforgettable experiences either of you have ever had!
I was worried about fuel for you guys the entire time you were heading into camp. lol After this trip, are you going to upgrade to the 3 Gal RotoPax? Great Video!
