Cap de Carteret is a rocky promontory of Cambrian origin on the Côte des Isles, in the commune of Barneville-Carteret in the English Channel.
Located opposite the Channel Islands, it has always been a natural observation place, allowing in good weather a view of the islands of Sercq and Jersey (the cape is the closest continental point to Jersey, 22 km away) and the south coast of the Cotentin to Granville. It marks a boundary between the harbour coast to the south and a more rocky coast to the north with high perched dunes, including nearby, the Hatainville dunes protected by the Conservatoire du littoral.
