@@kevincampbell8298 we need more channels and videos with the math. I am learning to work on my tube amps , and trying to take the guess work out. Recently replaced my filter caps on a vintage amp but I would like to know the exact esr worst case ratings for capacitors that are not listed on my table, so basically for now I guess I should just calculate the difference in capacitance ratings using the values above and below on the table. Some say it should be based on manufacturer info but good luck finding that for every capacitor you ever have. This is the kind of thing I think is important , because in these days there is no telling how long someone has caps on the shelf, because isn't it best for them to have currents applied every now and again?

@@THEMFORMATION You don’t take take the course because the information isn’t out there. You do it to have access to all the learning resources, equipment and to get verified engineering degree. Companies don’t tend to trust self study engineers as much unless they have some diploma to back it up

Would you please comment on this excerpt from NIST's WTC 7 FAQ? "Stage 2 (1.75 to 4.0 seconds): gravitational acceleration (free fall) ... During Stage 2, the north face descended essentially in free fall, indicating negligible support from the structure below. This is consistent with the structural analysis model, which showed the exterior columns buckling and losing their capacity to support the loads from the structure above."

I'm confused so if I have 6 3000f 2.7v caps wired up for a 14.4v 500f load capacity and then discharge it at 1ohm how long will it take?
@farmerjohn6192
@farmerjohn6192 2 года назад
So that’s 3000/6 = 500F with a voltage rating of 16.2V. The time constant is RC = 1 x 500 = 500s. So after one time constant the voltage will be 9.1V. To discharge will be 5 time constants per the example
@SheikhN-bible-syndrome
@SheikhN-bible-syndrome 2 года назад
@@farmerjohn6192 so 500amps of power for 1sec and it will have dropped to 9iah volts?

So is the resistor necessary to charge?
@themangix357
@themangix357 2 года назад
Why an exponential curve tho for both charge and discharge? 🤔
@farmerjohn6192
@farmerjohn6192 2 года назад
because i = C dv/dt while the resistor gives a linear relationship between its voltage and current. The solution to such differential equations is the exponential function being the integral of 1/x

@GAMINOES
@GAMINOES 2 года назад
It can also be charged directly without a resistor right. Why do we need a resistor in between
@zenniz1992
@zenniz1992 2 года назад
You can do but the current flowing through the cable will be very high. It won't be dangerous for a 9V battery as the max ampere can only reach about 1A. If you use for example 12V lead acid battery, the current can go dangerously high which will burn the a small gauge cable. The resistor is to limit the flow of current.
