I was up at the same time. Got 54 fish in 4 days of insane action. Every fish released to fight again. try not to grab the fish by the gill plate use your fish grip or boga. Good you sqash the barbs its easier on the fish and you.
Rich Filakovsky yeah it was crazy, and weird bc it was pretty far off the new moon tides, I grab the fish by the Gill is because none of the grips were around and being used so I had to unhook the fish quickly and get it back in the water quickly. Thanks for watching FISH ON!!!
Wild Man he means by when you take out the back hook, and add a swivel to the belly hook, It’ll decrease the stress of un hooking a fish with 2 hooks in its mouth and if you hook a big fish, it’ll decrease the chance of your splitring and hook to bend because the fish has less leverage on the hook, plus the action stays the same, I do it on all my swimmers too it’s just I lost all of em and I had to deal with the double treble, hope this comment help, thanks for checking out my video and FISH ON!!!
Dustin Fehr for jigging, it’s horrible, I like to use it for magic swimmer and top water action bc due to its roughness in retrieving, you can regulate the speed of the plug, unlike Stella that is extremely smooth and is super easy to crank too fast, I still love it tho
GetHookedTV might of left mine a lil too open on my vs 250 had a monster on gave me he's good runs then hunkered down then 2 mins later bolted off onto the rip of out going and dove deep and popped my line
Wild Man yeah man, sucks, I pulled a 45lb fish out of ripping current and if I know that the fish is hooked well, then I tighten my drag so the fish doesn’t have an advantage, hooked it like 10 yards from my feet and ended up peeling line and almost spooled my Stella!
GetHookedTV yea my friend who just got into surf casting he's been to the canal 4 times now and he came in the water w me to wade for his first time he swore I was hooked into a sting ray he had me dying from this comment man he doesn't understand the current there and the power of a big bass he fishes the Hudson river and it's nothing like the canal or Montauk
Nice work man! but please make sure you release the fish properly! We all see to many dead fish float by at the canal cause people don't release them properly.
tatum better I’ve never used a tiraleho and don’t see it often at the canal but my mojo is close compared to my jigster, your choice, I hear that the mojo breaks easily, I threw a magic swimmer more than 500 times with this rod and nothing ever happened, plus I love the full rod bend on a fighting fish😂👌
A DGDVRN my dad uses a slammer, great reel, I personally don’t like it much because the drag gets sticky sometimes and can really mess with you, if I were you I would lean towards a Saragossa with that budget, landed a 38lb fish with ease, ugly but gets the job done but if you like the slammer, go for the bigger sizes
GetHookedTV I have 6500 on slammer and saragosa 5000 I was thinking taking slammer first first time to canal Thanks and channel is great keep making videos
Damn what an awesome day!! I’ve only been twice might be going back next week our last trip was very slow. Was that the Bourne bridge you were by in the beginning?
NFiltr8Red I treat my reel like a piece of art at home, but when I’m out fishing I can’t go around and act like it’s gonna fall apart on one little bump or hit, I have to put it into use. 🤷🏼♂️
Alex Tardiff find breaking fish, if not then try to fish your trusty spots, I can say that it’s nearly impossible to avoid the crowds on weekends, who knows? Maybe there won’t be🤷🏼♂️
