A year ago, we met up with my cousin Lisbet at a race in Denmark, and she "sort of" invited us to come and stay with her during the biggest cycling race in the world. We had never heard of it, well not much anyways, and you know that "laughing it away" thing you do when you really don't want to...?
Well then... after looking into it, talking about it, arguing a bit about it and thinking it through, we booked the plane tickets and kicked the ball over in Lisbets corner...
Months later, we arrived in a warm and welcoming city, made use of every corner in Lisbets apartment and felt drawn into a culture we were not that familiar with.
Lisbet was the perfect host. OMG, what she did for us and for Stijn, for him to feel safe in what he at first felt was an unsafe city, and for him to calm down his nerves before cycling. She lined up friends for him to cycle with and he even got so tuned in that he almost (well, not almost) forgot my birthday...
Anyways...
Cape Town Cycle Tour was an amazing event. Looking from the outside, it was a well organized and streamlined arrangment. Imagine keeping track of 27000 cyclists. The job just folding the paperwork, start-gadgets and everything important into 27000 envelopes!!!
Everything was perfect, all the time. The grapes bought of a lively man on a corner, the timing of the loadshedding, the shop selling WonkyWare, the miles of walking, the dip in the ocean, the Red Busses, the wine tasting, the home made bread, the view, the breeze through the open door at night, the stories, the fast white car, the food, the drinks, the weather...
Here is a small consolidation of the clips I filmed with my iPhone. I could have filmed more, I could have filmed less. This is it!
Hope you like it.

Thank you Lisbet!
Take care!
