Whenever I rent a car, I use my phone to video all around the car, with the representative of the hire company in the shot. That way if they try to charge me for anything, you can prove via the video of pre-existing damage.

Thats so disrespectful they tried to charge them for that. Kara and nate are really nice respectful people and they just have bad luck every so often while traveling like when they got charged double for a taxi... So people are just scum and take advantage of travelers.

Additional tip- start the video looking at the mileage/gas gauge so you have those noted as well.

I came out in a sweat when Kara's bag was missing...bad memories, mine happened in Donetsk, Ukraine, where they used to bring the luggage from the plane in a wheelbarrow.........but not mine. Mine was in Vienna. I felt very relieved when yours arrived. Those guys looked like they had never been hugged before

I know this is from years ago, I only just found your channel and binge watched from the beginning up until this video in the last few days! Is it weird that my heart was in my mouth more for possible loss of luggage than it was with the shark cages! Airline lost my luggage once and it was a total nightmare!

When I made this trip in 2/00, I flew to Johannesburg, where I rented a car which had the paperwork to make it possible to be driven across national boundaries. I drove up through Zimbabwe, stayed at a camp run by nationals, then drove on to Victoria Falls, then into Botswana, where I stopped at Chobe National Park--an amazing park, by the way, and returned through the Kalihari Desert to Johannesburg--5 days.

I know this is old. But ALWAYS take a picture of your rental car from all angles before driving off. Notify them of any dents and scratches before you sign paperwork so it can be marked on your forms.

Travel tip of the century: ALWAYS take before and after pictures of the car you rent. It will have the time stamp of original. Enterprise constantly tries this with me and I show them pics.

I had a similar experience in Lusaka years ago, but the baggage guy demanded US Dollars to get my suitcase back, and when I refused he started taking things out of it. I was traveling alone and he kept on until someone else walked up. I love Zambia, but hate that airport.

You could have flown to the airport 'Victoria falls' in Zimbabwe. It might have saved you guys the pain of Kenyan Airways as many companies fly this route. :)

I guess this is the Livingstone town's airpot in Zambia, by just looking at the interior its got the hallmark of Chinese designs for African clients, probably built by the Chinese just like the VicFalls Airport in Zimbabwe on the other side of the Falls

lol... i've vowed so many times not to fly kenya airways but i still keep doing it. was flying to Johannesburg and lost my luggage. Got it two weeks later. apparently it went to Hong Kong and when i got it, it was empty. lol. good thing it was heavy cause i was traveling to school and they refunded me $3000. which was so cool.

The plane is delayed. Never fly Kenya Airways. The flight was great we saw the amazing Zambezi at sunset because we were delayed. They lost my bag, one more reason to hate Kenya Airways. They found my bag yeah. Thanks Kenya Airways. The most conflicting trip report I have ever seen and the mist over Vic Falls? It’s always there unless there is a drought. I was born there. Finally do you hug random people back home? We feel a bit uncomfortable about it as well.

Every airline loses bags and KQ uses sub-contractors for ground services at airports outside Kenya. I know the feeling of losing your only luggage, but it's part of the risks of flying.

Kenya Airways have reported hundreds of millions of dollars in losses every year for the past three years. The government bails them each time because other governments bail businesses out. I think the it's the management that is bad.
