In April 2024 I hiked the Cape Wrath Trail from Fort William to the Cape Wrath Lighthouse in 13 days, following the Cicerone Guide’s main route all the way to Cape Wrath.
It was an epic adventure filled with stunning mountain scenery, breathtaking views, isolated wilderness and some really challenging terrain.
Along the way I met some fantastic fellow hikers, I got the chance to sleep in Bothies and wild camp in some pretty awesome places.
The weather was mostly dry for the trip, but there were a number of nights with sub zero temperatures and some days with significant wind chill.
This was the hardest physical and mental challenge I have undertaken, but it was also the most rewarding experience I’ve had in the mountains, a true adventure through a beautiful part of Scotland.
This video is Day 8 on my CWT adventure - Loch an Nid to Inverlael Forest / Allt Badan Seasgach ~ 33.6km / 20.9 mi - 1320m ascent - 24.4.2024.

Andrew. Thanks for your video series, Having completed Ft Wm to Shiel Bridge last year with two friends, we will be tackling Shiel Bridge to Ullapool starting 1 June. Your videos show much more really helpful detail of the terrain than others, and your factual descriptions and advice, whilst not so entertaining are much more valuable. Days 6 - 8 are just what we need. Thank you.

Thanks Shaun! I watched your part 1 CWT video to help me plan the trip and I see you’re uploading the next section too. I’ll be sure to watch these. Hope it went well for you. I was fortunate with the mostly dry weather during the trip. Atb and thanks for watching, Andrew

Hi, back up to do my next leg of the CWT end of august - that camping spot at NH 218 871 - was it any good? Need space for 3 tents. Thanks

Hi Andrew, I think you’d get three tents in that area. The intro to day 9 might give a better feel for the space there. The ground was a little boggy in places and there’s a small water run off close by that joins the river, so it might be wet if you get more rain than I had. Hope that helps. Atb, Andrew

@@andrew_hikes Thank Andrew. Our next stage is from Inverlail to Inchnadamph (we're over 50 so need to do things in stages rather than one go). Won't get to Inverlail until after 5 so need someone where to camp within a couple of hours walk.

A gang of us blokes stayed in Shenavall bothy, to climb An Tellach the next day, superb ridge walk. Unbeknown to us we dossed down in the bridal suite, got some funny look,s over breakfast! King Charles stayed in the bothy in the 1950,s, I wonder who got the bothy book, signed HRH?

I’d love to get back up to Scotland and tackle some Munros, staying in the Bothies along the way was great. An Teallach looked awesome as did Slioch the night before… the hiking to do list keeps growing! Atb, Andrew
