Outstanding adventure and production ,yet again! Love the mix of retro (Garry's cassette tapes?) and contemporary music. Cool in a crisis and lots of fun. Thumbs up!
Awesome trip reminds me of when we did it 10 years ago. Get the GU home and drop a tractor motor in it, if your going to do that sort of stuff up north something mechanical with no electronics is the go. Td for life.
So beautiful Tyler, nice work! May I suggest you learn a little bit about the birds and wild life of the area, you don’t have to turn into a nerd about it but knowing your fauna surroundings can’t be bad. Also something else that could be worth looking into is geocaching. 4wding/ bush walking with a purpose… have fun and keep up the good work!😊
Awesome Ep lads, good soundtrack and sweet time laps of the sun rise. Gaz blows an engine but we get some future cracking content with a sweet engine swap 👌 Worked ZD, TD, Cummins, Duramax, Barra …. Either way it will be great to watch 🤙
I must say this is an awesome series, very well edited and a perfect soundtrack. I drive a V8 troopy, but loving how the Patrols are going … well done 👍
Some great footage on this one Tyler. If you’re on the northern section of the Tele track you are a long was from the PDR. The PDR runs from Lakeland to Weipa. You would be going to the NPR the Northern Peninsular Road
Great trip and better driving, stunning campsite and swimming holes, feel sorry for Dad, hope the wallet holds up for the repairs and wont take the shine of the adventure. Bill Mc
great viewing, just chuck in a zd30 and you'd be sure to get a real adventure, mine did the same thing. Green death around the injector pumps terminals and next thing one of the cylinders melt, ouch.
The front engine seal leaking may have been a early warning of high crankcase pressure. It appears that poor Gaz may have a cracked or holed a piston. Even the CRD ZD's have this problem under the right circumstances.☹
Just went through the build videos you do have some of the mods required for the "NADS" on the ZD30. But a EGT & Boost gauge are a must for this engine. You were told it has a tune in the ECU but I would still add a manual boost controller like a Tillex kit for the ZD30 though. The ZD has a much stronger bottom end than the TD42 but the cylinder head and combustion temps are their achilles heel.
Another good ep TT! She's a fun and wild place at times. But the Cape country keeps drawing people back. Bloody shame about Gazza's GU though. Hope its not too terminal.
Great adventure so far, hope you fix the ZD30 and continue on to see how long it goes some people get good milage out of the CRD motors looking forward to the diagnosis.
Your videos have improved a lot since I started following you. Congratulations. You got quite some characters as your friends. I love watching’em. Broken parts that “self-repair” are the worst! As proven at the end of the video. Your son had an attitude some years ago. It makes me happy to see it’s gone, it makes me happy at heart to see he’s matured. Well done mate. You’re a great father.
What a banger of an episode, long too, most would have split it in 2. Three generations bonding and bringing your own mechanic is just a flex. Great usic choice, only thing id ask is you lower it a wee tad as with headphones it get louder than the general volume. My only geips though on a great vid 👍
Can only be LS or 4JJ. TD42 not possible. Then again, a rebuild of the ZD not a ridiculous idea, as long as the tuning is properly sorted (read no egr and proper boost control on a better turbo). If it were mine, I'd go the LS route with 6 speed auto, which is a well proven and successful transplant..
the old hand grenade strikes again ! every 4wd you tube channel that gets a zd30 blows it up, all zd30 motors do eventually and that's guaranteed and this one is a prime example of a well kept and maintained zd30 and it still went boom, they are duds !
@@TylerThompson90 it shows every sign of a major fail 1st being a pressurised sump and now the blue smoke and poor running condition,it won’t be pretty
@@TylerThompson90 so your father went from 1 of the most reliable diesel engines ever made to 1 of the most shitiest ever made. But I suppose now that this channel is only about live axle vehicles it makes sense.
The fuel was turned up too much into an EGR clogged inlet tract, causing number 4 to burn a hole in the piston. The CRD should never blow as much soot as this one did going up that sand dune, a dead giveaway of overfuelling. Coupled with insufficient air supply the piston has no chance. The CRD is far less prone to this blowup than the DI was, but not immune when treated badly (ie, EGR not blocked and no catch can)
@@einfelder8262 The moment they put that ultimate 9 on a mildly tuned ZD30, I personally crinched. At 88K I had a ECU tune done, welded intercooler, tillux boost controller added on mine. I was told by tuner not to add a throttle controller. Hence I haven't and see no need, mine runs really well since the tune. Has had a secondary fuel filter & provent 200 Catch Can since new. Drain regularly, intercooler clean as, no oil blowby in mine to glug EGR up.
@@grumpy-g5s Explain why changing the rate of change of voltage to the throttle valve can possibly cause engine damage. You can achieve the same result simply by pressing the throttle faster. The throttle controller does nothing at all to the engine tune.
Question. With the music licensing I’m guessing you pay for, is it very limited? It’s the same few songs for background audio! 😂 Maybe change it up as the quality of the video does lose a bit of touch. Other than that, honestly best channel out there atm. It’s so good!
Mate , One of your best vids yet I reckon. Great choice of music, but how did you avoid a copy rights Strike. I got stung once about 3 yrs ago for Some music in the back ground 😢 Is there a way to use copy right music now ?😊
