This is one of the most outrageous offroading videos I've ever seen. Absolutely amazing. I always loved the land cruiser. But now I truly respect it. There's a reason these things won the dakar rally a host of times. I want one
One of the best off road videos I've seen, and mainly because of such genuine people who are just down to earth and not acting like idiots for the camera. Thanks guys. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
How good is that from about 14:05. The 100 just glides through the water... like Ursula Andress emerging from the sea in Dr No... full disclosure I'm a fellow 100 series owner so I'm biased :)
Both have there pros and cons, also depends what you gonna do with it. If your gonna smash it around offroad, 100 series for sure. 200 is good for horsepower and just a great vehicle but not the solid workhorse for serious off-roading.
Nicely put together. I am going to do this drive in sept, i have a 100 but was thinking of upgrading to a 200 before the trip but now im thinking stick with the 100. which did it easier do you think? or either is fine. Have to get a winch, have a tjm bar, didn't want the weight of the side bars but now think maybe they are worth it, same for a back bar. any tips for taking a 100? or do the upgrade to the 200.
Really think they are both very capable vehicles. I think they both did well but the 200 did have electrical issues after driving through water crossings. If it was me I’d take the 100. Important to do the water crossings slowly. Never hit the water fast, as you just stop and get bogged, but keep a slow momentum to let the water pass by
Not sure whey you would get rid of a 100 series? as in terms of 4x4 and reliability its not an upgrade to get a 200 series. Or is it the PovPack 1hz slug? The 1hdfte engine is Toyota's best and far better than the VDJ 200 series engine and they definately outlive them. The problem with the VDJ is that is very thirsty and is a throw away engine, can't be cost effectively re-built and plenty get dusted or have problems compared to the 1hdfte or the 1hdft. The VDJ sounds fantastic, but I'm not sure that is worth how much it costs to repair and replace over the life of the car. The BEST way to go is a 105 Landcruiser (with Live axel) and a 1hdfte engine upgrade. BUT very hard to get as people rarely sell them once they have one. Have a look at this really good example. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_0qxBEXyYho.html Also you have to consider the ongoing costs of the vehicle, for example a 200 series headlight will set you back BIG $$$$, but compare that to replacing a wing mirror on the 300 Series which costs well over $3000, yes to replace the wing mirror.
When were you actually there? ie dates? Just trying to work out the best times and if possible when to avoid due to the conjestion you mentioned that was happening a few weeks before you did it.
