Connor living up to his locker room nick name “McMagic”. Also nice win streak the next 2 games will be a good test for the Cap against Tampa and the Rangers.
What a game. Not gonna lie, I was a bit worried that they were going to lose their momentum once Philly started scoring, but they got back into the game. Last year’s team would have folded. I think McIlrath has been great on the team. I’m excited that he’s finally getting to shine and he’s definitely fighting to show that he belongs there. The announcers paid him a backhanded compliment when they said he looked less like McIlrath and more like Backstrom. I hate to hear that. He looks just like McIlrath. He’s just matured into a really solid player. Dubois is turning out to be a great addition to the team. He was on fire tonight. Glad to see him get an empty netter and glad for Ovi too. Ovi actually had a couple of good chances tonight and that hustle at the end to get the puck was fun to watch. It made Drysdale mad enough to break his stick. I was listening to a vid today from about 3 weeks ago that was saying that Carbs plays an overly defensive game and how it was going to hurt the caps. What I’m seeing is a well balanced game that has both great offense and defense. Go Caps!
Down the road, maybe even at the end of the season, I would love to see Leno take Vrana’s spot. I won’t argue Vrana’s skill at all, but I feel like Leno taking Vrana’s spot would be dangerous for opponents. More grit, harder shot, and more eccentric 2-way game, maybe even put Pro on the third for Vrana, then put Leno on the 1st.
They’re probably gonna put Leonard at RW, so I think it’s more likely he takes Mangy’s spot or they put him on the top line and move Ovi back to LW. I could see Mangy take Vrana’s spot if it comes to that.
