Hello & here we go with a new 1/35th scale project - Capitulation 1945
This diorama is based in an East German town during the final few weeks of WW2, and the German surrender to overwhelming numbers of Soviet forces. The idea for this came about after seeing the new figure set from ‘Stalingrad Miniatures called ‘I’ll question him’.
So I decided to exclusively use other figures from ‘Stalingrad’ to complete the scene, using 2 laser cut wooden building kits I had from ‘Gero Design’. Accessories from Miniart, Tamiya & Royal Models all help to add more details.
In this first video I’ll be building the base, laying the cobblestones & paving, & looking at putting together some of the figures. Beginning to build a small room for one of the buildings & starting the street barricade.

Thank you so much, really appreciated! Sometimes it’s just a case of slowly bringing the kits together, concentrating on a little bit at a time. Plenty times things don’t go according to plan, so it’s just a case of a rethink🤔😊 Thanks for the comment👍

Hey Bill, thank you☺ Yeah those moulds are quality, in previous dio’s I’ve used normal wall plaster in them with ‘ok’ results. But the clay was a game changer - very strong & durable. That is going to look outstanding when you have finished it. I might move the two German soldiers from the left side of the diorama over to the right side so as to group them together as if a whole unit had surrendered.

Thanks Tom for that. Tbh those aren’t necessarily the final figure placements, I had intended on moving the flak into the side street & have a little defensive position with sandbags & ammunition. I think moving the 2 other Germans over to the others will bunch everyone up together a bit much, already they could be separated further I think? Anyway plenty time to still rethink it, appreciate the feedback ☺👍

This will be another evocative and beautifully constructed story by the look of it and I can't wait to see how this evolves over the next episodes. You amaze by the way you figure out how to put these dioramas together....such a skill and fantastic story-telling. Will be looking for that Part 2 notification to appear in the future for another great episode.

Starting to see all the parts going together , the story of who , what ,where when, and why. One minor Mon V. Any soldier in a war zone would be highly suspicious of someone with hands in pockets . A couple of Russians would be bearing down on him. That and the kids being made to take thier boots off, a lot of despair in the scene

Thanks buddy!👍 I chose the youngster because I liked his nonchalant look, like he wasn’t bothered about the situation he’d faced himself in. I’d tell him to take his hands out his pockets but he looks as if he has a bit of an attitude…. teenagers🙄
