It took me 20 years to learn that lesson and finally accept it. And yes, it is a peaceful acceptance. I tried so hard to fit them in that profile but it just didn't happen. And I know I have finally accepted it because of the peace that comes with walking away and staying away this time. Looking forward to new endeavors.

Absolutely on point. And no, there are no longer false hopes, only acceptance. 35 years of having painful hope and keeping up wrong/false expectations are enough. There's even no desire for another partnership at the moment. Learning to get along with myself is the next lesson I've got to cope with. I'll get it😅

I really had hope that this relationship would work the past year and a half, but it just wasn’t working anymore. I’m much more at peace. A huge weight has been lifted up my shoulders. It was not even a functioning friendship. He came to me when he needed help or something. I asked for his help when my house flooded and all he said was wow that sucks and suggested I find someone else. That was when I said no more. I'm done. I don't care anymore.

Non reciprocal. That was also my experience. Void of the ability to be accountable and reliable. Just empty words. And for me this pattern of relationships in my life exploded so I am having to come to terms and peace with it involving multiple relationships. So it’s a lot to absorb. I may have to give up hope of a reconciliation with my former best friend, whom I love deeply. I think she won't forgive me for the trouble I caused her anymore. I miss her a lot. I think i denied it for so long. My ego just couldn't accept that he really didnt care to save the relationship even though there were times when he did show up. Theres a scene in the Wedding Singer where Julia' s fiance wont give up the window seat for her and it always stuck with me because thats what i dealt with with my former lover. It sounds like a small thing but with everything else it just spoke volumes about what type of man he is and there cant be any hope that he could change. I get that now. Thank you dear Christina ❤
