Yay, another Pisces! I knew there was a reason we “clicked” (LOL!). Great podcast (again), Anne! Looking forward to seeing your walking wheel in action once you get it working - super acquisition! Two podcasters - Isabella of “Breathing Yarn” has a podcast about her Halibut sweater. You might want to check it out (she’s absolutely hilarious, too!). Also, Mark Vogel is an avid fan of Kelbourne Woolen yarns, and he has knit fabulous color work sweaters with them! As for music, have you heard of Loreena McKennit? She does Celtic folk story music that is absolutely amazing (very haunting and soulful). I think you would love her (if you haven’t already discovered her!). Have a great weekend!
Ahh Robin! You're a Pisces too! It all makes sense 😍 haha So happy you enjoyed. I'm really excited to get it going too! It was such a special experience and thing to steward for the next generation. I'm definitely going to check out those two ☺️ I love Loreena McKennitt! Definitely right up my alley. I hope you have a nice weekend/week too!
Love the MJ lower leogh sweater. That's on my list to make. Never ever apologize for what you like to read or listen to. What you like is what you like! You go girl! Love the Lobstah socks. I lived in Maine . They are sweet! and you are to. thank you.❤
It's so good! I've been dreaming of it since I first got the book and saw the samples at Rhinebeck. And now it's so close! I think it's going to become a staple in my wardrobe. Thank you for saying that! Believe it or not I'm a very shy person haha so this whole internet thing makes me a little nervous but it gets easier as I do it more. I love Maine so much, definitely part of the inspiration for the socks. Thank you so much, I hope you have a great week! 😍🤎
I have watched one of your podcasts and enjoyed it very much. I live in upper ny. The reason why I thought I would write was that your cat looks just like my daughter favorite cat. Unfortunately it got very ill and well she is missed by my daughter. She got her from the SPCA and my daughter had her for 15 years.. that cat was very attached to her she would get in the tub with her crazy
@@caprinecottage she can still feel his presence and I believe her . There is a poem on how after we have crossed over that we are reunited with our pets that have taken that journey
Happy that you get to go to Rhinebeck this year. I'm going for the second time and am trying to get the Neigh sweater by Caitlin Hunter done before the festival! I've had yarn for the Lower Leogh for ages but it keeps getting pushed out of the lineup... I always look forward to your podcast!
I’m so excited! And we’re both making Caitlin Hunter designs!! How exciting! The Neigh is so cute. I’m really pleased with the Lower Leogh. There were times during the making process that I really had lost faith but I’m so happy I stuck it out and love the final result. Thanks for watching 🤎
Once again, lovely to see you. Your little black cat! Our black cat (called blackie) passes away 2 years ago. I think he features in a few of my first podcasts 😂. Black cats are special. You did really well for a second run through, I’ve been there and it’s sooo disheartening, occasionally you see me say “ let me just check I’m recording” 😂😂😂
Nice to see you too! Oh I bet you miss him so, black cats truly are special. We have two lol. It's so frustrating to lose a recording for whatever reason. I was extra mad at myself because I had double checked everything but didn't think to look at that button. At least I won't make that mistake twice haha. Live and learn right? Hope you have nice week 🤎
How exciting to have a walking wheel. Your home looks so folk antique. Love the astatic. Have a black cat named Clint. He is afraid of his own shadow. I just finished a pair of vanilla socks for "himself" and finishing off Blooming Lavender socks as a gift. Then right into fall knitting. I have a cardigan I want to make which uses mohair but in this heat I can't knit mohair! Glad you are going to Reinbeck. I have not gotten to a fiber festival in 6 years😢.
I couldn't even believe it when I heard about it. I've been wanting one for a long while now so it felt like it was meant to be. Thank you! It's definitely a work in progress haha, and always a mess, but it's home. Clint! I love it. Our black kitties are shy too, especially around other people. All of your projects sound so exciting! I love the blooming lavender socks. I'm really excited about Rhinebeck , it's overwhelming but so much fun. I love to see all of the animals. Hopefully you can find your way back to one sometime soon. Have a nice week 🤎
I wonder if you could knit your halibut sweater in the two colors, but then duplicate stitch with the red afterwards? It would make the knitting much faster, but you would still get the red bits you're looking for. I live it when a new Caprine Cottage episode appears! Thank you
I contemplated this idea myself. But I think it will be too much stitching to actually make it a time save. I cast on last night and as I get into it I’m really leaning towards just sucking it up and doing the three strand color work. I really appreciate your input though. So happy you enjoy watching. Thanks for being here ☺️
Thank you so much for mentioning my pattern ❤ I also loved that book series I personally liked the extra details that the author did. Piers Anthony xanath series is also good or well any Piers Anthony very sci-fi or fantasy type books. I love all the little farm vlogs as well as all the other videos you do❤
Of course! I'm realizing now that I should tag you in this video description. I'll go do that now. I will definitely check out Piers Anthony. I'm happy you liked the Ghattis Tale series too. I loved it so much when I read them the first time and its the same this time too! I was surprised to see how much other people didn't like them so it's nice to not be alone. Thank you! ☺️☺️
Hi! 👋 Great video! Love love love the Halibut sweater! Can’t wait to see the process of you making it! I got back into knitting late last year and am working my way through socks for my family. It’s my year of socks. 🧦😊 Next year I hope to venture into sweater making and if possible make it to NY Sheep and Wool. Definitely on my bucket list. Until then I’ll join vicariously through you. 💛
Hiii! I can't wait to get started on it. I love hearing that others are excited for it too! Socks are the best honestly, I love making them! Have you seen Summer Lee's new Colorwork sock club? I signed up knowing full well that I won't have time to make them all lol. I will definitely encourage you to try sweater making. I made my first one last year after years of being too intimidated and its been a great experience. I'm almost on my fourth one! I can't believe it. I hope you get to live your dream of attending NY SW someday. I feel crazy that I just decided to go this year but also excited. Thanks so much for watching and saying hi! Have a nice week 🤎
I am enjoying your podcast Anne! I just bought the yarn to make the Halibut sweater also! I inherited a great wheel from my aunt, but it sits as a nice antique piece of furniture, and I don't use it.
Ahhh how exciting! What colors did you choose for your Halibut? I’m so excited to get started. It will be like we’re making it together. I love that you inherited your wheel from someone in your family. It sounds extra special 🤎 I’m so happy you enjoy. Thanks for watching! ☺️
Great episode. I Knit the Halibut cowl with some hand spun for the fish, it was really fun. I LOVE the colours you chose. I need to get a bit bolder with my knitting, I think play it safe and always go for neutrals where as the clothes I buy are always bright colours. Have you Read "the name of the wind by Patrick Rothfuss? it my favourite fantasy series.i'm going to check out Waxahatchee today. Take care
Thank you! That sounds so lovely, I'm really bad at using my hand spun but that is a perfect project to use some. 🤔 I'm so excited for this sweater. It's really funny you say that because I feel like I'm the opposite, I always buy neutral colored (ish) clothes and then want to knit with colors. I haven't read Name of the Wind yet but its my FIL's favorite book so its definitely on my list. I hope you enjoy. Thanks for saying hi! I hope you have a lovely week 🤎
So much I'd like to comment on (nothing bad!!) that I think I need to start watching with a notebook and pen beside me! Gorgeous, gorgeous cat ("Angel" sprang to mind!). Awesome spinning wheel - can't wait to see it in use! Great book recommendation (never apologise for what you like to read!! - and have you ever read "The Cats of Seroster" by Robert Westall? I think you'd like it) and I'll be checking out "Waxahatchee". I wouldn't mind a video tour of your book collection (hint hint!). Thanks for keeping me company again 🙂
Aww this is so sweet! I'm happy it's all good things. 🙈 I'm really looking forward to getting the wheel going. I can foresee quite a learning curve when it comes to spinning on it. I immediately looked up the Cats of Seroster and put it on my to read list. I think I would like it to! I would love to do a book collection video at some point I think it's a great idea. Probably will have to wait until winter time when I'm in my new studio space. Right now they're all over the house. Thank you for watching and always writing to me. 🤎
We rescued a black cat from my backyard during a thunderstorm. My husband and I kaput calling her different names, until he called her “Neko” which is “Cat” in Japanese (husband is half Japanese). She silent meowed back, so we tried again, and she meowed back again. So , that’s her name now. She still answers to Neko.
I've definitely considered this idea but I feel like it could be too much red? I don't know. I really should do some color work swatches. But I'm also lazy haha. Thanks for your idea though. I really appreciate any and all ideas. 🤎
