I'd love to remake Capsule Monster Coliseum get a new game with as many of the Yu-Gi-Oh monsters as possible. Of course I'd love to see the same for Dungeon Dice Mosnters, Duelist of the Roses, and Falsebound Kingdom too

Capsule monster coliseum soundtrack is one of the best game soundtracks out there. I still listen to these songs to this day.

One thing of historical note: the original 1998 Monster Capsule PS1 game is also the beginning of the YGO soundtrack you became familiar with in the GB Duel Monsters games. Anzu and Grandpa's themes (when receiving cards) is from that game. The boss themes for Yami Yugi and Kaiba in the game would end up being re-used countless times for Dark Duel Stories, DM4, Duelist of the Roses, and Forbidden Memories. EDIT: Also, P. Seto's evil theme (the music that plays when he confronts the prince after invading the palace) is also reused from Monster Capsule, as Seto Kaiba's entrance theme

Yo! Guy from the year 2023 here! For anyone who doesn't know, the Yu-Gi-Oh Capsule Monster game for the GBC? It was fully translated! I'm lovin it so far! ^_^ Thank you for the recommendation!

Capsule Monster Coliseum is my #1 favorite licensed game ever, and I've played a *ton* of licensed games of varying quality. Played through it with every attribute, some multiple times, and nearly filled my OG PS2 memory card with save files.

I wish we had more weird-genre Yugioh licensed games. Most Yugioh games are just the card game simulation, with a plot to follow the most recent anime. Now that we have Masterduel, with constant updates, there is no reason for another Tag-Force-esk game. Personally, I want some kind of Rush Duel Capsule Monsters game. A long-JRPG where pieces level up over time and evolve into stronger versions, going over the main story of Sevens.

One of my favorite Yu Gi Oh games. Such fond memories of getting rare capsules and trading them with my friends over the memory card.

Played the PS2 game back in the day, very interesting but definitely a different spin on the ideas presented in the PS1/GB games. GB in particular is fascinating since it incorporates TTRPG elements into the gameplay with the monsters acting as your party of sorts. Colloseum takes into a purely gameplay direction, but in GB there's towns, characters act as DMs and roll for random encounters incrementally, it's great! I was thinking lately it would be a great framework for an indie game.

Capsule Monsters Coliseum alongside Pokemon Emerald are my favourite games of all time. I don't think I can count how many hours I've put into this game. I've played it with all of the symbols and pretty much learned that kuriboh of all things is the most overpowered monster (and no I am not joking). The community is actually pretty active thanks to the Libra Mod developed by Oak. And honestly the game is still pretty good even today, though it is a little slow. Very glad to see you explore it alongside the japan only ones in this retrospective.

The GB one’s overworld level designs are the same as Pokémon’s GB games’ overworld level designs, probably because of some of the same level designers from GameFreak

Oh, that's a neat surprise. For Breed and Battle, there actually is a decent amount of english coverage in recent times, so one doesn't really have to go into it like it was a dark forest without a flashlight. GB meanwhile...got abandoned by the community in a similar way Battle of Great Duelist was? Heck, both of these even share the variable of only having a partial TL-patch.(Though the one for Monster Capsule GB is much less finished than the one for DM4) Sometimes I really wonder why certain games are just randomly left in the dust. Really reminds me of the evidence that a worldwide release for The Eternal Duelist Soul was planned, but Konami just...never localized that thing.

Capsule monsters coliseum is my all time favorite yugioh videogame. It is so much fun and just ridiculous. it also provides quite a challenge (looking at you pegasus).

I've been looking forward to this video for a long while. I didn't know much about the first two games, and I agree it's unfortunate they weren't released outside Japan. The early manga/"season 0" had a great charm to it that I wish was dubbed and seen when the series was still going. Capsule Monster Coliseum is a game I played when I was a kid, and finally beat last year as a adult restarting from the beginning, definitely a fun straight forward game that makes me very nostalgic hearing the dubbed voice actors.

Retroarch has a feature called AI Service which uses OCR to detect and translate text on foreign games, could be worth a try

CMC and Duelists of The Roses were both fantastic games that I still own to this day :D. Both simply classic * arcade * style Yu-Gi-Oh games :DD. Both can be very unforgiving in some matches

I wish other season Zero games had their own animes and mangas and Yugioh was not only about the tcg. It 's quite sad that "King of Games" became "King of GAME".
