Capt Awuni is a very rare breed of man. A man of integrity prepared to suffer for his convictions. It’s scary to hear how volatile the atmosphere was at the time. We must thank God for the peace in Ghana now. We must pray we never see those times again

Awuni is the smooth, disciplined and straight laced type who was trained to follow authority and orders. The type who would not get himself into unnecessary fracas or trouble with his superiors and system. A conformist and a fine man. A man of deep understanding.

@Anuaa Adadzewa Awotwe: You are correct, Nigerians believe that Rawlings was an unblemished hero whom we should have had to cleanse our filthy political house. I used to think that way of him but I slightly changed my perception of him not too long before he died. Notwithstanding, I still believe that he saved Ghana from descending to absolute hopelessness. He was imperfect like the rest of us, so RIP to him.

@@yawjay7049 you have to realize that after the 1979 handover, out of the 15-member AFRC only one of them stayed in Ghana and didn't take the leave offered to go outside the country to take a military course. All 14 of them left but only ONE stayed back. Why is it that all of the 14 left and one decided to stay? So not all of them was blood thirsty. The blood thirsty one was the one who stayed back. The rest of the AFRC are National Heroes who restored the Constitution of the Republic.

Thank you Andy for a wonderful video, but I think you missed some questions; 1.Who were the pilots of the helicopter mentioned at the beginning of the video who flew Capt Awuni from the Castle to Gondar barracks? Did he know their names? 2.On the flight from the Castle to the Gondar barracks were the pilots seemingly communicating with anyone? 3.At the time of the problem what was Major Yaache’s office, duty or command? 4.When he (Capt Awuni) collected the weapons from Akata-Pore and co, what did he do with them? Observation: The mistake we all Ghanaians made for all this time is that Rawlings behaves just like a mafia boss. He talks and give s instructions in a round- about fashion and also plans far ahead so that when the murder becomes public, nothing can be pinned on him. The way JJR got Capt Awuni involved in the disarming of the Akata-Pore gang is a classical example. Don’t be deceived, Rawlings DID want those killed to be killed. He just plants a seed in the minds of the eventual perpetrator and leads him gently to the final conclusion, so that he can deny his involvement. It’s interesting how Capt Awuni never addresses Quainoo without any rank. Even junior officers and other ranks are addressed by rank.

Another question you missed, Andy; What did Rawlings mean when he said 'The whole of Burma Camp is surrounded by people with bows and arrows'? You see how two-tongued Rawlings is? You see how he plays the ethnic card? And yet when he is on platform with a mike he will first start castigating people about using tribalism to wreak havoc in the country. It is just like being abroad. As soon as someone treats you unfairly they quickly say '...I am not a racist.' Ah! What a thing to say! 'The whole of Burma Camp is surrounded by people with bows and arrows!' When the Captain said it, I was waiting to hear what he found at Burma Camp. You also see how Rawlings speaks indirectly with insinuations and code? That way, he can always deny what was implied. I will post examples on the video dealing with the killing of the judges.
