The reason Chrome knows the world is round is because the sun rose earlier in the air than on the ground. It's sort of the same thing as seeing a ship appear from behind the horizon, you don't need to see the curvature itself to know it's there.

They didn't say the Earth was round due to the shape of the horizon, it was because the sun hit the balloon before it ever hit the surface. Only light shining on a sphere can cause that.

Being able to see the sunrise before anyone on the ground is able to should be enough proof to disprove flat earth because if earth really were flat then the sun would rise at the same time for everyone. If flat earthers weren't willfully ignorant then you could just stick em in a hot air balloon just before dawn and show them proof
