The Battle to findout true Justice. Captain Nathaniel Adam known to DC Universe as Captain Atom. He was a United States Air Force officer during the Vietnam War. Currently he is a member of Justice League. But when Question was kidnapped and tortured by CADMUS Captain Atom had to take sides.
That is When Superman VS Captain Adam's Battle broke out. When fighting Captain Atom, Superman tried his level best to hold up.

Even though JLU Superman was heavily nerfed so every battle wasn’t just a slam dunk, you can still tell how much he’s holding back in this fight as he wants to keep Atom from fighting him or stopping Question from escaping, but also doesn’t want to seriously injure him which he knows he could do if he really wanted to.

Stay down.” Most other people in Clark’s position would have taken the opportunity to gloat just a little bit, but he respects his friends and allies too much to not give them every opportunity to stop fighting him, even if he realises their moral code will keep them fighting and he knows how easily he could end the battle if he really wanted to. But he doesn’t, and that’s why he’s Superman.

It’s all based on perspective, he believed what he was doing was right and from a story standpoint, he kind of was.

I really enjoy how much one can the see the evolution in Superman's fighting style in the animated series. In SAS, his fighting style is clumsy and choppy. By the time of Justice League Unlimited, you can tell his fighting style is a lot sharper and more focused, like a highly trained boxer, and is able to use his incredible strength and speed to great effect, even against powerful opponents such as Captain Atom and Captain Marvel.

This is one of my favorite fight scenes in all of JLU but there is one problem with the fight, Captain Atom never went after Question he just focused on Superman. Since keeping Question in the building was his orders that would have been his focus

How are you meant to focus on your objectives when biggest opposing opponent is never backing down even if you get a few seconds to get away he'll either go through walls to catch up to you or just blitz you till you cant fight back which is what happened anyways

You have to realize, getting the question back is the easy part, getting past Superman to reach the Question is the hard part. As long as Superman was there, he could not get anywhere near the Question unless their fight would drag them to his location.

No, he knew that if he didn't secure Superman, first, that seizing The Question wasn't going to happen. We do see him walking away from a downed Superman at one point to head after Huntress and Question, but Superman got back up and then Atom stopped short-changing him.

There's argument to be made there, but if it comes down to it I'd have to say Captain Atom is not as durable as Superman. His energy shell cracks too easy against supes and then he's just a time bomb.

In his most powerful form, he was able to create some form of micro universe. He is one of the most powerful members of the Justice League normally but again one who has to temper his output due to collateral damage. In the injustice universe-wonder woman pierces his suit and he he is going to detonate, so whilst evidently taking supes closer to the sun is a dumb move-he did it to protect the people present but still the explosion would have normally done immense damage to superman and it did nearly kill wonder woman.

You think those dudes with guns do? He's following orders. I really liked this Cadmus arc cause of scenes like this, makes you think. They're heroes, JL members, but they're also people with jobs and such and in Atom's case, he was military. First incident I've seen as a kid where a hero's allegiances was challenged like this.

In reality, he should be able to transmute the air in supermans lungs into kryptonite dust, alter his cells so he cant absorb solar radiation. He could create a literal small red sun just strong enough to depower superman if he didnt want to hurt him. But, Superman is dcs posterboy, he never loses.

The reason red suns weak superman is because he feeds on radiation, yellow suns give off plenty red suns don't. This has lead some to think that red sun energy has a similar weakening affect as kryptonite.

Brother, they also nerfed Superman lmao. A single punch from Superman shatters multiverses. Superman is capable of moving so quickly it reverses the flow of time. A single blast from Superman's heat vision defeated a force that was powered by all the magic, and energy that had ever existed, does currently exist, and will ever exist. They nerf every character, that's how these shows work. If they didn't, Superman and Flash would solve every single problem within like 10 seconds.

I think that captain atom got way stronger after watchmen got popular. For the longest he was just strong, tough, could fly, controlled and generated energy mainly radiation. Even batman brave and the bold he was still like that. It was only after watchmen that he became more like Dr. Manhattan and became godlike.

Maybe because it’s not “naturally occurring” Meaning that particular radiation is specific to chunks of the planet Krypton while other types of radiation like solar are more common for Atom to copy.

Clearly a children's puff piece show. Given Captain Atom's ability to generate any form of radiation: red sun or kryptonite, how in the world is he not kicking Superman's panty-wearing butt? How does Superman retain any of the power to do what he does in this clip? This is another example of how DC simply can never let its poster-boy come up short in a battle even if it contradicts their own canon. In the comics' Monarch-story thread, Captain Atom not only whips one Superman senseless, he takes out three alternate versions of the Man-of-Steel at one time while trash talking them. In the comics, they make it clear that Captain Atom's power source is the quantum field, which by definition gives him as much power to pull on as the entire Green Lantern corps--in fact he kicks Green Lantern's can in the comics as well. The Watchmen's Dr. Manhattan was based on Captain Atom, which is another indicator of how powerful he is. No doubt this ridiculous battle was scripted to advance some plot line that called for Superman to leave the Captain's costume cracked, but this would never happen in the comic, which this cartoon should be based on.

Finally, in the DC Injustice Comic, guess who kicks evil Superman's butt all over the North Pole before evil Wonder Woman cuts his containment suit with her magic sword? Wait for it . . . Different canons, different power levels. Most characters in the DCAU are not at comic strength and most of those moves were better. It's hard to write stories in a large canon when you've got lots of people who casually screw with black holes, reality, and time.
