This figure is a MUST BUY. Especially for me because I’m a big fan of Captain America comics. This figure is totally based on the 80’s version drawn by Mike Zeck. Zeck artwork is fantastic, his comic work on Cap was top notch. This figure captures how Mike Zeck drew Cap, the black shadow on mask, the broad shoulders, long legs, the scale mail details on chest along with the huge star. Too bad his art isn’t on the package. So glad this figure was made.
This cap is so freaking sweet. I feel genuinely lucky to have this guy in hand. Especially since my first exposure to Captain America was during the late 90’s and the Heroes return era of Avengers comics. Whenever I think of Cap in my head, I immediately mentally visualize artists like Ron Garney, Adam Kubert and Dan Jurgens. I can’t help but see those artistic influences represented in this sculpt. And the inclusion of those extra swappable parts is just icing on the cake. I hope we see more late 90’s inspired cap characters.
The straps shouldn't be on the figure if he's holding the shield, they're the shield straps he uses on his arms, hence the buckles. Commander Rogers just has straps on the uniform. Finally, no Steve Rogers ever gets butterfly joints for some reason- it annoys me to no end. As a standalone figure, hes great. We'll see if hes 'definitive' when the Mafex drops this summer, but that one scales well with Legends.
Ooooo that makes total sense about the straps!! Gotta be careful though since it chipped some paint on my shoulder when I put them on…I’m probably going to be leaving them on just for that reason but you’re absolutely right on them (and yup…Steve really needs some butterfly joints on ONE of these figures)
I don’t buy Marvel Selects unless they fit in with my 6 inch scale figures as bigger characters and such so I’m prolly gonna get this figure for the accessories and see if I can dremel out the heads to fit the Legends 20th anniversary Cap I have
Oooooo excellent call!! I plan on using the shield with the Legends anniversary Cap for sure (and a buddy told me about a mod he did to use the shoulder harness too)!
