Big respect to captain Cook, the best thing to come out of yorkshire.l believe he mapped a fair chunk of the earth ,no google maps in his day ,just pure knowledge that was hard learned/earned...
Love the history of Captain Cook. As I live here in Alaska, we have a fair bit of it locally. Interestingly, I had the pleasure of viewing Cook's lost anchor, which was recovered a number of years ago off of Anchor Point, Alaska. Hence the reason that location was named so. Was a thrill to see it in person merely by chance at a service station, as it was being transported up to Anchorage on a flat bed trailer !
Your comment reminds me of my time in Anchorage. Looked at all the Captains local history. The salmon turning pink at the end of their life. The Sleeping Lady mountain range. What a beautiful place. I was made very welcome there. A treasured memory, thank you Alaska.
Back in the day all us youngsters read R.M.B's 'coral island' and dreamt that one day we could see one for ourselves. Alas for most of us it remained a dream, so thanks' Barry for the next best thing.
I do the same when bugs get in my pool, I rescue them lol. Can't believe you are the only sailor anchored there. Got the world to yourself down there. Enjoy & thanks!
A ww.w g-wiz Barry, that was sweet of you rescuing that big moth. I hope you went over to the beach and Let It Go. That's what this old world needs is a lot of compassion. Appreciate your videos Ole Chum. I guess you could call Captain Cook a hero. Watched you from the beginning and you're sure some tough cookie! Well don't go selling off into the middle of nowhere and get lost good friend. Take care and aloha.❤
So wonderfull what u did with the animal. Me myself and I being a bit of a rude guy, but when it comes to animals in trouble I always try to rescue them. Sorry for my bad english. Greetz from Amsterdam Holland. Edward.
Paradise and deserved to such a kind and nature loving soul. I found your channel during COVID under lockdown here in Carmarthenshire, binged watched from the start and got to the point I regretted catching up. So for the last two years you’re my eagerly awaited escape from my commitments and the stress that comes with it. Living the life mate, good for you😊👍
Say hi to Martin for me. You have a good heart! Beautiful places to visit and a great history 17:53 lesson .Do you get lonely and wish you had a friend with you? Safe travels and enjoy your self.
Well done! I can relate to your reverence for Cooks' anchorage. The night before I first landed in Ca. 29 years ago. sailing from Maui, we anchored in Drakes Bay behind Point Reyes and probably exactly where Drake anchored.
Myself once was standing on the same spot in Cooktown, Australia, where Cooks ship Endeavour was taken in for repair. History took a new direction then
Yeah and rescueing the moth I respect that I pick up snails and move them when possible. You have to believe it’s all good Karma actually it’s nice to be nice and that’s what counts in my book
Despite holding a number of important posts during his career, John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich's incompetence and corruption were legendary, inspiring the saying: "Seldom has any man held so many offices and accomplished so little." Still, he did invent the Sandwich, so there's that.
OK, a "Barrys cooking show" please. 😉 Love the videos you're stopping at all the places I would. Great combinations of history, touristy, humour, real life anecdotes.
Interesting about the anchorage. Great minds think alike! A sweet story about the moth revival. I wonder if you could bring it to shore. Or eventually maybe it'll fly off the boat, when it's dark as you say. It may be confused with all the light.
