Surely they should have freed all the convicts that were sent out with the guards and then posted look outs over the roads to report when Trist's men were on the move.

Not a Western, Apple Head. Australia is Way east of England and on the map shown, they are even in Eastern Australia. Now spread out.......

@@pressureworks On a globe west and east are relative to your starting point. From Britain through the Panama canal Australia lies west. Through the Suez canal you travel east. In America the frontier of civilisation was in the western part of the continent. Therefore the term 'western'. Westerns are supposed to be situated on the North American continent.
