Some Goals are so worthy, it’s glorious even to fail. Talk to a soldier going to the war and he’ll say “I will come back either after hoisting the flag or being wrapped in the flag” - Captain Vikram Batra PVC, officer of the Indian Army.
Right from his college days Captain Naveen Nagappa had a special lure towards the Army uniform. He pursued his childhood dream by joining the Indian army. Therefore, after earning a degree in mechanical engineering, he entered the Indian military academy and was one of the 2 candidates out of 80 to be selected. After 6 months of his service at the Indian army, he had to participate at the Kargil war.
The Kargil war left Captain Nagappa scarred physically and emotionally. He suffered serious burn injuries to his legs after a grenade exploded right next to him. Captain Vikram Batra dragged him out of the bunker and saved his life.
After 8 Major leg surgeries and spending about 21 months at the hospital, Capt. Nagappa was shattered as the doctor declared him medically unfit to serve the Indian Army and hence today, he serves as an engineer for the defense force. He was awarded the Sena award for his bravery at the Kargil war and gallant services to the Indian army.
