Hi Dwight, You would think so but the USCG is very picky when it comes to checking boxes. You need to apply for a TWIC card through TSA. As far as CPR & First Aid goes, it must be a USCG approved course. Some are and some are not. Here is a link to Diamond Marine Services. You only need a Captain's License if you take paying passengers. You can take a boat around the Great Loop, no problem.

It is possible that the USCG will put a daytime restriction on your license but it is still possible to get it. I highly recommend using an application consultant to help you through the process and make sure you get the best license for which you qualify. Yeah, you can do the course and then the application. You have one year from the date of issuance on the USCG Approved Course Completion Certificate to use it or it expires. For some folks the application is more challenging than the course and they fail to use the Course Completion Certificate within the year.
