@The King's Guards and Horse UK Sorry to say this, but these guards and their horses are not taken seriously. Between my work and personal life, I've come across a lot of people who have traveled through the UK and went to see the guards & horses. The overall consensus is that the guards' uniforms are misinterpreted as costumes not uniforms, and the way the guards walk and kick their boots and all, is (to some people) "way over the top dramatic & like cosplay". I've also heard from people that it seems to be a natural "force" within themselves, to touch any animal that is anywhere (horses, pigs, dogs, cats, lambs, sheep, goats, etc.). They don't take the horses as being "military or royal horses". I have no idea why this tradition continues, that people are allowed to take pictures and get near the guards & horses at all. The guards and horses should be behind the fence, in an enclosed area where no one can get near them. Being out on the "sidewalk" is to some people like a "petting zoo" and the guard is doing cosplay. Sorry, that's what I've discovered from people who've traveled to the UK. Also, the sign "Horse may kick, horse may bite, do not touch the reins" is only good if the people read English. Let me take a wild guess that the majority of those tourists do NOT read English or even speak it.
