This is nostalgia. During first to third grade, I would read and reread all the Captain Underpants series. I was such a big fan then. In middle school we had to read chunky novels that only had sad endings... rip true passion for bathroom jokes
I remember one day my dad took me and my brother to work, and after a while we got bored and started playing on the computers. We wound up on the Captain Underpants website and binge-watched these cartoons. This brings back such a feeling of nostalgia 😁
I watched this back in 2005 on a school computer in 4th or 5th grade. I got in trouble and the principal tried to compare it to Beavis and Butthead, which I didn't even know what that was at the time. The irony is that they had the books in the school library.
It's really surprising that it's still a big deal. But kids all across America are reading the books over and over. My brother turns thirteen later this year and has reads the books by Dav religiously. He has to have them all and it's really inspired him to take up drawing. They inspire creativity in a lot of children and it makes the reading experience really fun for them. The series also only ended a year or two ago at twelve books.
I remember in second grade, I did my first book report of the year on "Captain Underpants & The Attack Of The Talking Toilets". Many other kids in my class read Captain Underpants books for their reports as well. My teacher was obviously very curious as to why so many children were reading that particular series, so she read one of the books... which was a bad idea. Let's just say that Captain Underpants was banned as book report material shortly after that. However, I was able to get away with doing one report on "Super Diaper Baby" (just released at the time) later in the year. All the fun series were banned: Captain Underpants, Goosebumps, Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, and numerous others. I was a little boy; I wanted to read about funny, gross, and scary shit. I think that kind of discouragement is exactly why so many people grow up and barely read at all. As kids, we were forced to read shit we didn't find interesting while at the same time were forced not to read stuff we might actually like (comics, horror novels, comedy novels, choose-your-own-adventures), so most of us grew up hating books. Even as a college student, I still completely loathe reading required material.
When I was a kid, I had the luxury of reading these things. we still had them, though I think I kind of kept myself away from things like Goosebumps, mainly because I just didn't get it and it confused me. Nonetheless, I still would've read them. I think they were mostly banned in some places because it wasn't "educational" and parents who know what's "best for their kids" complain about them reading stuff like this and "oh no! this stuff isn't going to get my little Jimmy into college!!" or at least something in relation from a parent or teacher perspective. blegh.
I remember reading and owning the whole series, now in my senior year of high school, I'm shocked they made a movie. Yet my school banned for reading it saying it was "time-wasting, inappropriate, and not learning material". But one of my teachers let me. God I feel old knowing the movie is coming out!
When you snap your fingers… He turns back into Mr. Krupp! *Have a swell day!* And when you pour water over his head… He turns back into Captain Blunderpants! *GRRR!* *_REMEMBER THAT, NOW!_*
I used to love these books! Especially loved Captain Underpants and the Attack of the Talking Toilets! I even got my little brother to read them! Don't care what anyone says, I'm watching this film when it comes out!!!
Laura Williams i never read the books but my friend avery zerf witch is a youtuber told me a bit about this book and showed me the song and i love it even tho i never read the books i am going to watch the movie😸
Man even as a kid these vocalists were…wow, it feels like they grabbed some folks who only vaguely knew about the series and didn’t care very much about it. At least those kids shouting “Underpants, underpants, I like Captain Underpants!” sound into it.
Maybe your on your computer in 2005 late at night watching this and the power cuts out and it comes back on later and you forget to shut your computer off and you hear this distorted because you clicked loop that's sounds like a reason it would be creepy
I had this very odd dream where I was sitting watching cable in a hotel. Keep in mind this was a dream, then they started playing reruns of this old Captain underpants animated series from the 90s. This was the theme song.
Omg back in the day I used to watch this video all the timeee This is such a throwback especially the books In fact I learned how to read due to captain underpants
I remember when captain underpants was exposed to my school back in 2nd grade and when the teachers heard about the immature humor this book had, the principal banned for 3 days and when kids heard about this they acted like the forgotten how to read, i personally enjoyed this book when I was younger
I remember watching these videos and playing the captain underpants games nonstop. The captain underpants website was the first URL I memorized. It's now been 8 years since I've heard the names or picked up the books but I'm fucking hyped for this movie.
