Being a fan of any one of the Captain League teams is like a roller coaster of fandom. Like one event you're clearly the favorite, then it's like you're small market and tanking to rebuild. You experience all of it lol - Anyway, go Breakdowns! Sneaky not that bad...
Team power rankings: 1. The Story - great team, lots of vibes, winning culture 2. The Rippers - two best players in the entire tournament, maybe, but the team seems very anti-clutch 3. The Goodfellas - a really deep team but Jolly is the worst captain and just does not know how to lead a team 4. The Breakdowns - an intentionally bad team, but a fun team. Jimmy is the best captain in terms of leadership/captain type stuff. Not as good as Jack at playing but he'll figure out positioning, the chair, and steal a game at some point.
Any team that has Jolly as a “captain” is instantly put in the last spot. He is the best at single handedly ruining any team chemistry. The Rippers having Jack, the best pitcher, and Lou, the best hitter is by far the leader. I would say the Story is two with Jake, Luke and Zo. Jimmy’s team is like the bad news bears, but they don’t have Jolly so that’s a huge plus.
What I enjoy so much about the Captains League is that the stakes are high enough to be exciting but low enough that it remains fun with some room for goofiness.
I was so confused by his 2 picks following that statement, but then I looked at who was left, and realized there just aren't any pitchers. It's just Jack and Lou and they're both on the same team.

To anyone mentioning BBD going low because of Ball in Play, I think there is virtually no carryover from BIP Bowling to Blitzball pitching. They are VERY different. What I will say is that I actually think BBD will swing one of the hotter bats in the tournament. He had some Blitzball appearances way back in the day, such as teaming up with Plouffe vs Jimmy/Jake, and actually looked pretty decent at the plate.
The problem with the Breakdowns is that in addition to the poor pitching they also have bad defense. You probably put Joez in the chair but I don't think BBD will be a strong defender either because as we saw in Slapball, he's not particularly agile or mobile. Puts a lot of pressure on Rob, and when you look at all of the other teams they look pretty solid defensively maybe with the exception of the Goodfellas who are gonna pitch well and put up competitive AB's. The Story have pitching question marks but are going to tear the cover off the ball, and the Rippers were just guaranteed to be the best team by far the second they had Jack and Lou regardless of who their last 2 ended up being.
There's a real "weakest link" factor in the Warehouse. The team with the first pick of the final round has won both previous tournaments. In other words, playing it safe with the last pick is a really good strat. Because of this, I think The Story looks like the best Blitzball team right now. Jack and Lou on one team is OP but Dan and Lucas are going to have to hit and pitch at some point. For that reason I have the Story finishing in first, followed by the Rippers, then Goodfellas, and then the Breakdowns who are clearly tanking to win Floorball. Jake has a clear path at winning the whole Captain's League in my opinion. His and Jimmy's draft slots for Floorball are amazing. If Jake can just win a playoff game in both tournaments the title is his.
After everything Jolly did to beef up his chances in Blitzball, Jimmy looked at his draft and said "damn he needs some help, I have to basically GIVE him a player to make sure he finishes higher than Jake." I'm still surprised Jack didn't trade the 1.1 here to Jake for his 1.1 in Floorball which is obviously Luke. Jack still could have had Luke at #4 who I'm guessing is the #2 hitter in Blitzball and I'm also assuming can't pitch because there's no reason to pick Dalton or Shelfy over him if he could. But a Jack-Luke tandem could still have won Blitzball outright and then been the favorite going into Floorball.
Before even watching this love the drafts so good to watch the GMs disrespect eachother with these disgusting trade offers before actually throw some real ones out there 😂
This is tough! I'm hoping for a Story upset over the Rippers, but Jake is in such a good floorball position that a blitzball victory would basically hand him the cup.
It's interesting to see people punt a sport so hard. Jimmy punted BB, Jolly has fully punted floorball. Jake is in a really good position to win the Captain's league at this point.
Oh Breakdowns... I see the idea Jimmy but oh they really screwed you letting Jake get Luke How did Luke go fourth Still idk how the Rippers lose. I'm so happy for Lou lol. Him and Jack will be so fun to watch.
This tournament is going to be interesting for sure. I think Jake might have the best overall well rounded team. If Jack and Lou can be sharp on the mound and hit, they are the team to beat. Jolly's cursed so I have no hopes for them and Jimmy can't draft....he has NO pitching at all. (BiP and BB are completely different animals)
"People are overrating the pitchers that are here" agreed mostly except for the rippers. They pretty much have the only 2 proven blitzball pitchers of recent tournaments.
Pointless Mock Draft: 1. Rippers - Lou Dab. This should be the most locked in draft pick of all time. Not just because Lou is a feared hitter in the Warehouse but because he is by far the best pitcher of the pool players and one of the few guys with any Blitzball pitching experience at all. By taking Lou, Jack not only strengthens himself but greatly weakens the options available to his opponents. This is a no-brainer but this is Jack - it is entirely possible he decides to reverse no-brainer double backwards full-brainer it and... Make a brainless decision like trading the pick. And that's why he is a content machine and why we love him. 2. Goodfellas - Zo DeMalia Well here is where it gets interesting. Jolly is not a pitcher, Lou is gone. Old Man Dan has flown the nest. Out of a field of untested prospects and perennial Blitzball pitching trauma victims, Zo stands out with the most pitching experience. He might not have the heat but just being able to find the zone may set him apart and allow Goodfellas to try and lean on their bats and outscore opponents. 3. Goodfellas - Dalton Feely There are some potentially hotter bats remaining in the field but I have Jolly favouring experience once again and taking fan favourite Dalton. A jack-of-all-trades with jack-in-the-box energy comes to play for a Jack-who-doesn't-go-by-the-name-Jack. 4. Story - Luke O'Brien At number four finally one of the hottest prospects comes off the board as Jake goes with talent and baseball pedigree with Luke O'Brien. This just makes sense as if anyone's going to go after a hot inexperienced guy it's J-... Wait, no, I'll stop there. 5. Story - Ryan Cohen I see Jake going back-to-back with untested high-upside athletes. Ryan will bring energy and enthusiasm and his arm may be diamond in the rough. If Jake can get that jewel shining that would take a huge burden off him and mean he won't have to turn to The Reliever. 6. Breakdowns - Joez McFly I think Jimmy will see the experience, commitment and power of our beloved Joez - and most importantly an opportunity to let him flourish as a Blitzball player when there is categorically no reason he has to pitch. 7. Breakdowns - BBD Jimmy did not invest in this event and I think would be more than happy to claim any points at all. As such I see him going for another reliable, team-oriented player in Big Baby David. His team may lack bells and whistles but Jimmy has his eye on the big picture and knows this is the dark before the dawn. 8. Rippers - Bobby Scirocco After picking up all the dynamism he needs with Lou Dab I'd like to see Jack pick a solid team-player in Bobby S. Rob will do the dirty work, try and get on base and contribute where he can as a supporting act to the star duo. 9. Goodfellas - Shelfy After making safe opening selections I have Jolly taking a gamble here on new man Shelfy. He has a bit of experience under his belt now and has shown a hot bat at times. I see him rounding out the outfit nicely. 10. Story - Dan Rourke I just think Jake pursues joy here. Having Dan on his team will bring him that joy and whatever actually happens down on the cement will have Jake smiling. 11. Breakdowns - Lucas D'Averza Jimmy would have no problem taking Penik I'm sure but I reckon he reunites with a teammate that is used to following the beat of Jimmy's drum. 12. Rippers - Justin Penik The General is the unlucky last man but will still be a valuable piece on this powerful Rippers team. Random predicted trade - Jolly tries to trade 2 and 3 for 1 and 8.
Way too low on Shelfy, he has blitzball experience and has shown it in the Warehouse in the past. Might be the second best pitcher available in the pool after Lou
I’m not completely batting because offensively they could be good, just don’t know where the outs are coming from. Even if Cohen is good that’s a lotta outs to squeeze in I think.
soooo what in the fuck was that trade offer from Jimmy? XD legit went down from his 6th pick to the 10th pick in exchange for moving up one pick 5->6 in floorball. Am I missing something?? I get he needed a pitcher but could have gotten wayy more in return for Cohen
