American vessels don't disrupt Russian fleets, so a "little soft enforcement" in the name of diplomacy works here.. now If this continues, I'm sure a foreign fleet, Korean or Japanese may disrupt the next Russian herring fleet..

Uhhhh, I doubt it. There are extremely strict laws on carrying firearms on the ocean. In 90% of open waters it is prohibited to have ANY sort of firearm on your vessel, and if you get caught with some, you are totally done. No more boat, no more license, go straight to jail.

Ez money not dragging iron pots in nets. They don't want to tear their nets up. Cost more than a pot they're fishing not crabbing. The border line has some good fishing and crabbing and isn't fished often cuz if you in the wrong spot you look like a burglar on the high seas. Might start ww lll for a stinking fish you hoped to catch. Fishing boundaries are for real best to obey them and shake hands. The other way and folks are to busy fighting to fish. Don't be greedy and try to rip off your neighbors by trying to intimidate them with who you are..Russians ought to know the Germans and the french tried it on them âfew times so did the Japanese in those waters only 70 years ago. If you haven't watched every season, time bandit Jonathan has pulled out a 12ga shotgun, ar-15 and ak-47 at one point he used a 12 ga to clear ice that was really high.. but normally he just shoots shit in the water...

@@jacobtrepanier1955 the Russians were already actively dragging before the time bandit was dropping gear it's a first come first serve type of deal and that pocket of crabs was where the stagger was so John was putting his gear over where the draggers were working and he knew it I like the hilstrands but this was just being petty and drama for the show

He stayed on the Time Bandit with Jonathan because Jonathan wanted him to help and offered some quota to the Cornelia Marie in return for Josh’s help. I think Jonathan wanted to teach Josh some more boat running skills and don’t forget Jonathan’s in his early 60’s now, or close. Casey is young, can go without sleep, etc, but Jonathan’s not gonna do as well. You know Jonathan came back from retirement to help thelert get its quota, so the fishery/crabbery wouldn’t get shut down for a couple of years.

The answer given is true but he offered quota to barrow josh because His brother andy couldn't make it when they where about to leave to start the season, Johnathan had been retired frome crab fishing for 4 seasons.. the plan was josh go on 1 trip and when they went to go to offload he'd go back to the cornelia but in that time andy got covid so josh stays for just the king crab season
