Following the devastation to the Captiva nests, the original pair relocated.
This season there is a lot of interest on the nest.
Jack and Edie - 2024 June 27 - Darling's return and Ding's instinctive response.
09:25 Darling flies by with Ding on the nest
09:45 Ding lands back on the nest
10:14 Darling hits the camera post. Ding in defensive mode.
10:26 Darling makes the perfect landing on the nest.
Ding in territorial mode. This is strong instinctive behaviour, especially if Ding is female.
Darling stands its ground but goes into submissive mode... eventually leaves the nest to Ding.
These instinctive responses bode well for their future as a young adults. Ding in particular should do well finding and defending a nest.
Darling was unharmed during the incident. If Darling does not return to the nest again, it will be feed off nest as has been done in previous seasons by the original pair.
