Still not enough to make me move from my perpetual license to lease for life. Still bitter from the C1 annual upgrade to be met by the license change in January. You still do an excellent job explaining the features in your videos.
I upgraded every 2 years before. This new feature speeds up edits incredibly. I crunched the numbers and decided to subscribe. I only got 40% off the first year, but even so, if I subscribe for five years to take advantage of the rollout of AI tools, and then take the free license my loyalty "points" will have earned me, then take a break for three years the total cost works out at less than upgrading every two years. And cheaper than Lightroom. Maybe I'll take that license earlier and save more. Still no need to lease for life with capture one even if you subscribe now. Sad but true that prices go up. When Adobe went with the subscription model for biennial upgraders that was a stealth price hike of 300%. Capture One's was nowhere near as bad. And Adobe just increased prices too, with certain AI tools accessible only through tokens - you get free ones but after that you pay. Adobe is literally using its users as beta testers for tools as a service.
I'd been debating switching from Lightroom for some time. The drag of having to learn new software was the main turn off but your videos have made things much easier 👍

So, I have just bought a Fujifilm X-T 30ii as my first mirrorless. I am a couple of years off retirement and this is going to be a hobby. I have no experience in Lightroom or Capture One. My question is, if you were back at the start of your photography journey with no previous knowledge, which software would you choose? Specifically for Fujifilm cameras.

Hi Chris, nice video as usual. I just wanted to point out that you can use the rethetering feature with fuji as well. All you have to do is to select the option in CO settings and set the fuji camera as thethered USB fixed (or something like that). Once done, you can unplug the camera, shoot, and once it is plugged in back, CO will download all the pics and apply the settings. Tested this morning with my xh2s and was working fine. Cheers!
I'd been putting off renewing my perpetual licence despite some interesting features cropping up during the past months, but this, the sale, and the code, tipped the balance... I guess that's me for another long while ;) Thank you, btw.
I made the mistake of buying a perpetual license of Capture One 23 (16.2) a week before 16.3 was released. According to C1's support, I was eligible for an update to 16.3, but they didn't keep that promise. Therefore I have to buy the program again, or take a subscription. A yearly Lightroom/Photoshop subscription costs €100 less than Capture One. I'm just waiting for Lightroom to catch up with ai masking and layers.
@pal2tech, wonder if you have a view on comparison between On1 and Capture One. Also is there any more discounts running. I usually buy perpetual license and $299 is unaffordable to me
Do you have a guide on export settings for Fujifilm cameras? My pictures look good when I am editing in Capture One but once I export them, some of them come out grainy.

Hi I would like asking if there Is a way for import a big file ( panorama ) that PS forced me to save as PSb "BUT" capture one does not recognise for importing so could you help me ?
I have x-t3 and the movie mode is grayed out and so are many many selection settings are grayed out. and currently its in slow mode on video. I am unable to switch to normal mode for video cause about 85% of my camera is grayed out? can you help? you should do a video just on settings that are grayed out and how to unlock them. There isn't any RU-vid videos on grayed out settings.
Any ideas where did the C1 for Fuji go? The button for plans didn't work recent days and now it's completely gone. I really wanted to get the C1 for Fuji during this sale but it simply disappeared.
@pal2tech given Capture Ones recent policy change… do you still recommend c1 under the new pricing model? What reasons do I have to switch to it vs dark table considering the new pricing? I was going through the transition to c1 Fuji express and on the second day got the notice that it was being canceled in 2024. I’d love for you to cover this policy change in a short video or text post.

May I ask is this version Express Fujifilm?or a universal version? Because I have purchased the universal version of 23pro, but the latest version is only 16.2.6.7 There is no prompt to update to 16.3 in C1 website I saw my ac it say Max eligible version: 16.2 Is it because I installed a different version?
Even though I already upgraded last week with the 40% deal, your code still worked to get the film pack as a standalone purchase, cheers! Love the new AI masking. Trees against sky still catch it out, but hopefully in future updates it will get updates. Since AI spot removal has already been implemented, surely it can't be too long before AI noise reduction us rolled out too.
