This is the sort of video anyone thinking about getting a monkey needs to watch over and over again. They are a TON of work, require constant care, and are nothing like a domestic cat or dog. Also thank you for touching on changing the toys/enrichment because a bored monkey can quickly become a destructive monkey. They have such complex and demanding needs and are absolutely not for the faint of heart.
I’m so glad people show behind the scenes. I’m so saddened by people that aren’t educated and don’t understand the devotion it takes. Monkeys end up traumatized. They just see how cute they are and don’t think passed that. Thank you. ♥️
Good to see some of the daily chores, it gives insight into the type of time and effort which is needed to take care of these monkeys. Makes people think twice before getting one
I love that you posted something on the behind the scenes of living with a primate... I'm very curious to know more of what it's like outside the plethora of cute, playful moments. I think it's important people see some of the harsh realities behind having a capuchin, it'd be awesome to see more sometime!
F10 is a cleaner completely safe for all animals and humans. I use it to clean with all my animals the domestic and wildlife rehabing alike. You can use vinegar too, I used it on Gumbys tray before I learned about the F10. The main feature I love about F10, is you can spray it on the cage bars too, and wipe them down without having to rinse them afterwards.
Monkeys aren’t aloud in my country. It’s against the law. But I admire people like you Steph who have and take care of them. There people who don’t understand who just think they are cute and that’s it. They are cute but it’s like taking care of a 3 year old forever.
People see only the good part of owning a little guy as Xander or #monkeyBoo, but it's à lot of work !!! It 's worth it when you see how cute and adorable they are ❤️💕❤️💕❤️
Can i ask where you got your monkey's?? I am so tired of getting scammed. I could be wrong but it looks like you live in the US? I live in VA and having such a hard time finding a trustworthy breeder
I wonder if you could use white vinegar and baking soda to scrub the white trays to get the stains off and naturally sanitize any bacteria incase (not to mention deodorize it's a win/win for me). I use that to clean out my parrot cage. It's non toxic for them and just rinse the trays well before replacing. I love your monkeys and cage!! So cool. You are an awesome mamma to them!!! Lots of work but, so rewarding to see them so happy 😊💖😁🐵🍌
Thank you! People think “oh they are so cute!” People don’t know the chores of caring for animals. Animals poop. Animals chew stuff up. They wreck your stuff. They are not just cute fur balls.
Hey I was wondering what kind of treys under you kennels are? I need some for my floor! Pleas let me know I’m currently building a kennel for him! Thankyou
@monkeyXander - i highly recommend reusable zip ties. They have a little release tab u can queeze to let them go and use them over and over. No waste in the earth. Larger hardware stores have them, and amazon. I can get you part numbers if needed.
Even the cleanest monkey, and monkey home has a bit of a.... musty? Kind of smell. Kinda reminds me of a dirty hamster cage. When it's a happy, healthy monkey and home, yeah. You get the whiff. But, 15 minutes later, it's not really pronounced or noticeable. Less respinsible and caring owners... well, kinda smells like a zoo. That is not scent I've been able to not notice, no longer how much time I've spent in the home. Some people do not have the knowledge and/or time to be excellent monkey owners. Others do. They are very high maintenance. For their health and well being, and for the scent and stage of the home.
Does your phone have a stand? Not sure if you're using a phone or camera, but you could just set it on the counter or stand it on something if you want to record things when you dont have another person around. That's really not horrible. Like you said, just like a bird cage or any other animal. And if you do it daily it's not horrible.
If you don’t mind me asking you this: but have you considered that one day you’ll probably have your own biological children? And if that does happen, will human kids be able to co-habituate with your capuchins smoothly? I’m curious how that would work cuz your capuchins appear to be very protective and have claimed you as THERES.

Id really love one i been looking but its sad to many con artist and everyone is very unwilling to help someone aquire one. I swear its like a cult nobody will help anyone. I have thankfully worked with them when i was in my 20,s im 44 now and want to retire i have large property and want to raise one so i can spend all my time hanging out. I would be relentless at raising training and playing. I really enjoy it it has to be a passion.
@sheilajgalvan5138 me too bud me too. Im genuinely serious and will take as much time needed to give the best home possible. I love all animals. Im a sucker that way 😂 but they bring me laughs joy stuff like that.
Why don’t you just use diapers instead of cleaning a cage everyday ? My buddy breeds capuchins in Texas and just uses diapers 3-4 a day and regulates their food so he knows when to change the diaper 30-45 mins after eating or hydrating ! I do like the thought of a cage but I think my capuchin will b with me 24/7 So ima just use diapers and give him his own room to swing around and play
Actually when viewing some of the exploitation segments on the different media's I would never consider adopting any kind of primate! I have 2 dogs & over the years had domestic animals! In my opinion the primates aren't meant to be adopted! Maybe extreme circumstances by an educated caretaker but many thrill seekers attempting to adopt them, there are many domestic animals in shelters that need assistance pertaining to adoptions! "Go in that direction"
But seriously.....who really owns who???😉 And yes, exotics can be, I won't say tough to care for, but they are more to care for than you're average domestic pet, such as a dog or cat.

Is it worth all this work to take a monkey out of the wild and away from its mother? It’s actually sad. I feel sorry for them. This is not a life for them.
WHY ARE THEY IN CAGES INSIDE AND OUT?!!! YOU SHOULD NOT OWN THESE IF YOU CANT GIVE THEM THE FREEDOM THEY DESERVE! SHAME ON YOU!! THEY ARE DIFFERENT THEN A BIRD! THEY NEED CONSTANT NEW CHALLENGES EVERY WEEK! YES I WILL GIVE YOU CREDIT ABOT THE MESS BUT YOU SHOULD NOT OWN THESE UNTIL THEY CAN RUN FREE INSIDE AND OUT!!
MonkeyXander the difference is.....these are not domesticated animals. These are characterized as WILD animals and as such, are designated to live in the wild. Big difference!
Mal Polregno I’m very sorry, but I don’t believe they should be pets. Even sanctuaries try to maintain a simulation of the wild and pack social structures. There is a reason for this.
