Carcampers!!!! Wellcome to another car camping video...car camping with Keith.
I have been stealth camping in the city of Crescent City, California. Stealth Camping feels like something right out of a spy novel. I love being tucked inside my sleeping back, in my Hondaminium with my windows blocked out as the city's residents bustle on by with no clue I am sleeping soundly inside.
Take a tour of my car camping kitchen while I cook my evening meal. Then I am on my way to the Stout Grove of the Redwood National Forest.
Walking through Stout Grove in the Redwoods National Forest is like stepping into a realm of ancient giants and serene beauty. I imagined being a Liliputian wandering the forest and discovering GIANT Gulliver towering above me. I entered the grove and was immediately struck by the sheer scale of the redwoods. These towering trees, some over 300 feet tall, create a canopy so high that it felt like I was in a natural cathedral.
Fallen giants lay horizontal. Massive redwoods that have succumbed to age or storms lie on the ground, their roots exposed and their trunks creating natural bridges and benches. These fallen trees offer a glimpse into the life cycle of the forest, providing habitats for countless species and slowly decomposing to enrich the soil.
At the heart of Stout Grove, you'll find the Boyscout Tree, one of the largest and most impressive redwoods in the grove. Standing before it, I cannot help but feel a sense of awe and reverence. This tree, like its companions, has stood for millennia, witnessing the passage of time in a way that few living things can.
In addition to Stout Grove and the Boyscout Tree, I also visited Tall Trees. Gaining access to Tall Trees is easy, but you must register online to receive a code for the gate. I hiked this trail, marveling at the enormity of the trees. Along the trail, I wandered off and found a flowing creek where I took a quick dip to wash off the grime and cool down from the hike.
After this hike, I scrounged around in my car to make an end-of-trail snack. If you are a car camper, it is easy to score freebies. Storage can be an issue in a car camper, but durable plastic storage jars are quite helpful.
Until next time car campers, SAFE TRAVELS!!!!
