These are some of our some essential car camping items and smaller gadgets we love. I have skipped over the main core pieces of our setup as I have made videos on this in the past and focused on the smaller random things that make a big difference in comfort.

Great camping advice! If I had anything I'd add to your already great list, it would just be a couple of different ways to make fire. Usually I keep home-made firestarter with me (cardboard egg carton, dryer lint, and candle wax), but I also try to remember to keep match-lite charcoal and even a map gas torch with me. Spent way too long trying to start a fire with damp wood before, when I could have been enjoying the trip. Love the content, and happy new subscriber here!

Great piece of advice and thanks for mentioning this. Being able to start a fire quickly and easily can be a game changer , especially on a cold day. Starting a fire under any situation is one of my superpowers and I still tend to carry a few different fire starting methods just in case. thanks for watching and subscribing!

One of the things I like most about your videos and indeed your overall approach to camping is that you do it on the cheap. When I see all of these glampers who go way overboard, spending more on their rigs than they could ever save by not going to hotels, I wonder what the point of camping is at that point. You keep it simple, which is the best kind of camping, especially since everything has gotten so expensive while wages haven't budged in years. Cheap camping is accessible camping, which far more people need to do for their physical and mental health. On a side note, at 4:30, the shipping label on the bag with the window nets is pretty legible (especially in 4K), which could earn you stalkers. Hopefully that won't happen, but it's something to watch out for in your videos. lol

Thanks for the kind words and I couldn't agree more. The experience is what is important and some people lose sight of that. I also appreciate the heads up on shipping label and have attempted to blur it and have also moved a couple of times since I had this address so should be a few steps ahead of any potential stalkers

Hey there, curious about where you keep the cooler when you’re driving/sleeping? Any concerns about animals getting in at night if you leave it out?

When driving it's just in the back but as for sleeping below are my thoughts: 0. If an area has a lot of bears a bear box, typically only at established campgrounds, is by far the best option. 1. Leaving it out is fine almost all of the time (I've never had issues) as this Rtic cooler is pretty hard to get into and even has a place for a lock that makes it "bear resistant" like a yeti. I'm not concerned with any animals and with the sturdy design and lock feel I would have time to hear if a bear was trying to get in and scare it away. I generally keep it away from the car but close enough to hear if a bear tries to get in. This summer I was camped next to someone with a similar Rtic cooler in the bed of their truck and woke up at 2am to seeing the bear in the bed of their truck trying and failing to get into the cooler even without a lock on. We were able to quickly scare it away but minus some scratches the cooler was fine. 2. If going solo I can easily keep the cooler in the back next to me and also do have a smaller cooler that fits in the front seat or behind the front seat on the passenger side. Overall the most typical food bandits are chipmunks, marmots, and squirrels which I am not worried about with this cooler and in bear country try and be smart and minimize risk of any bear encounters as much as possible. I hope this helps

I would recommend ditching the headlamp if you’re in a campsite near other campers. I was so annoyed on my last trip when lights kept shining into my campsite. Then I realized the couple in the site across from mine were wearing headlamps. I thought it was really inconsiderate.

Sounds like poor headlamp use as opposed to issue with headlamp itself. I prefer to camp in places where I have no neighbors but when not possible I keep my headlamp on very low setting and would recommend having one with adjustable brightness to avoid illuminating the whole campsite. Also being aware of others and aware of where you are shining light also goes a long ways in these situations. Final thought is I would encourage everyone to see how much they can do without a light or with very dim red light setting on headlamp as you would be surprised by how well ours eyes manage in low light.
