Yasss!! I have this exact table and legs that I’m not using. I took it apart a while ago and kept it. 🙌🏽🙌🏽 thank you!

hi Rachel, nice combination of the tables and the legs, easy to assemble too and plenty of rooms under those table and since it was not all ties up, i saw your video that just lift it up and access to the compartment store below. Brilliant idea!!!!!. thanks for that, you gave me the idea to get those wooden plank(table) and legs from IKEA, cheap, good and usable, i had view quite a number of bed making for the SUV and yours is the BEST among them. quick and easy to make it into a bed with the combination of those modulars. Thank you for your sharing. really appreciated. Winson Lim from Singapore.

Really enjoyed your build, I love the use of the table legs for the weight savings. I’m definitely going to implement some of your ideas for my 4Runner build. Thank you for sharing.. Cheers

Awesome! Im thinking about building something like this for my civic hatchback. It wouldnt give me extra storage space but it would be nice to just have an even platform so I dont have stuff falling in between the seats and stuff lol

Nice set up and thanks for the links. I'm going to do a similar fix for my SUV and I have a question. How far is your face from the roof of your car when you lie on top of the platform, mattress, sleeping bag etc.? The reason I'm asking is because my back seats don't fold down completely flat. Another thing I've wondered about is whether condensation inside the car becomes a problem on colder nights.

Thanks, Terry! Glad this was useful. I have some videos coming up where you'll be able to see how it looks when I am on the bed, but I'll guesstimate there's about 10". My sunroof is right above me, so it is not claustrophobic feeling. I will say that when I have been in a full-on swing, to turn on my side at night, and forgot I was in a car, my arm hit the roof a couple of times. This part in my 'New Car Camping Bed...' video might offer an idea, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-66kd4AjCRFc.htmlm10s. As for the condensation, I keep my sunroof and/or windows cracked, even on cold nights. The only time I noticed any issue was during below freezing temps, the rear passenger side window did accumulate condensation, so my fleece blanket would freeze to my reflectix on that window. Otherwise, I did not have an issue in other areas of my car, inside, that I noticed. I am not 100% on what it looked like from the outside, but after taking my reflectix down, I didn't notice any fogging or condensation, except the windows near the platform bed, if my windows weren't cracked enough.

Hi love your videos I car camp in my nissan versa note . I'm still trying to figure out best sleep mattress I'm a side sleeper.This year I used memory tri fold but only used 2 pieces and 2 pieces of 4 in foam and colthes for where my feet went ( packing cubes ).It was very comfortable but 8 inches IN height 😮.So my question is how is your new Mat vs your tri fold for comfort .I'm only 5FT 4 I don't need 75 inches IN length I'm toying with the idea of the shorty blow up mattress.I did try the condo king mattress by thermal rest but did not find it comfortable enough for me .I ,would like to get down to 6 inches IN height. Thanks for any info Gaylene

Hi, Gaylene! I can understand the struggle of trying to find a mattress that works well. I am with you in avoiding mattresses that are too thick. Space in a vehicle is precious! My EXPED MegaMat is more comfortable than the tri-fold, in my opinion, and they're both about 4" thick. Having the ability to adjust the firmness of a foam+air pad is a great feature that you don't get with memory foam alone. Most of my family members tried out my MegaMat and were honestly amazed at how comfortable it is; particularly my Mother, who can be a real priss. We are all sorts of shapes and sizes too, and no one bottomed out. Looked up the MondoKing Therm-a-Rest mattress, maybe that's what you meant? Anyway, it looks similar to the MegaMat in that it is foam+air. It is less expensive than the MegaMat too which could mean that the MegaMat is just overpriced and/or better. Not sure. There is probably a high markup on these things either way. Personally, I'm not fond of the idea of a blowup mattress for anything other than inside sticks and bricks, and maybe backpacking to save space. There are two, potentially big, problems I see with a blowup mattress. The first is that if it's punctured, you're dead in the water until you fix it. There's no leeway like you get with foam+air, like the MondoKing and MegaMat. I've punctured my MegaMat and it still gave me a few hours before I started to bottom out. When I woke up, I pumped it back up, and it allowed me to get through the night. The second concern is the lack of insulation. Depending on the season and part of the country you're in, this could make for some very chilly nights. I think air mattresses are the least comfortable as well. If there's an REI near you, they have MANY mattress pads you can try out. I've even seen the MegaMats. You can see if it might be any better than the Therm-a-Rest. Maybe you'll end up creating your own solution; use your tri-fold or even the MondoKing, along with a two inch topper that you can trim down to size, and there you've got your six inches. Best of luck on your search!!

Nice job ! You’re better at putting things together than I am. I would have been swearing and bleeding from someplace that I scraped or cut. Usually my wife takes over and does it because she gets tired of me bitching .

Are you finding that the legs are strong and sturdy?

Hi, could you explain how you cut the legs?? Did you cut the extra length off at the top or bottom?? Thank you!
@RachelinRealLife
@RachelinRealLife 3 года назад
Cut the bottom of the legs, not the top where it screws into the flange. I cut the legs using a hacksaw amzn.to/3dsyqZw, then filed the edges to take off any sharp points amzn.to/3bo8xHI Put the leg between some 1"x1" pieces of wood and clamp it down amzn.to/3dzZpCN I used long leveling legs to make any adjustments with the uneven cat floor. Unscrew the existing feet adjustments the legs come with and these screw right in amzn.to/3seXOq1
@maineevent04
@maineevent04 2 года назад
So you cant reuse the existing adjustable feet after you cut them off?

I'm getting some Deja vu from dating apps... This is what a lot of guys say on those things. I can't even count how many times I've shown up to meet a guy who said he was and I ended up being taller than him. This may or may not be the scenario in the next dating video I do...🙄
