This was interesting and well done. A lot of information about the last Corvairs, as well as dotted with Corvair history dating back the beginnings in 1959. The commentary moves right along and there were no boring segments at all.

Thank you! Dave Newell is a true repository of Corvair knowledge. We were lucky to have him speak to the club.

My old friend Dave Newell. We are all old now! GG! I can't remember which one but it was a few years ago at a convention that I last saw and spoke with you. Good to see we are both still playing with Corvairs.

This is a phenomenal video! I have two 1969 Corvairs! I got my first one when I was 12, (#3610, a 500) and I got my second one at 13 (#4520, a Monza) I am 24 now! My coupe 500 sits on top of a 1996 s10 frame with a turbo sticking out of the hood. It was too far go to restore or fix, so I did the second best option, a frame swap! I have the full build on my RU-vid channel! And my Monza is in the middle of a restoration project, I’m very close to finishing it!

Imagine if GM had the sense to make this an ELECTRIC vehicle today. All the design work and the name are already done. I Love your video and wish you all the accolades you deserve! I think you will find this video will become very popular once it hits the RU-vid algorithm. Thanks for your time.

Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed Dave Newell’s talk. He knows everything about Corvairs. GM lost a good car when they discontinued them.

In fact, in 1966 GM did build an experimental electric Corvair: "Electrovair II".

The thing about me is that I don't keep my cars "stock". I always mod them to make them my very own. sometimes, I install improvements to items already on the car. sometimes, I install stuff that should be on the car from the start but are not. A couple of things I've added are; LED lights, HID headlights, a sub woofer, tinted front glass, OEM fog lights, after market fog light, and more backup lights. ( It came with only one reverse light).

So, with the several improvements on the '69, could you install them on the '68 to make it a better car? I.E. clutch cable swivel, brake line mod's, etc.?

I would think so.

Dave Newell has to be the guy with a steel trap mind. He knows *everything* about Corvairs, and if he doesn't know it, it probably didn't exist. Very interesting presentation! I had a 69 Monza coupe wayyyy back in the 70's. Living in Illinois meant that it was pretty rusty. I used that car as a winter driver, but finally, sadly, rust got to it and it went to the junkyard (after I stripped it of any removable parts, of course). FWIW, the VIN was: 105379701506. Thank you for posting this on YT!
