Car Dealers DUMPING REPOs At Auction! CRAZY PRICES 

I know 4Runners are desirable, but $16k for a 14 year old with 180k miles? That’s absolutely INSANE!

Seeing the wholesale prices dealers are paying on high mileage vehicles tells me used car prices are still insane.

Dodge with 164k miles = hard pass at any price

The stains on the ceilings are typically from cans of soda exploding. Either from being left in a car in 100+ degrees. Or they opened it after it got all shaken up from driving

I’m shocked that the prices are so high on those vehicles. I’m sure that they were 164k “easy miles” on that Challenger.

A 9 year old challenger, at the end of it's life, 9k?! And that was a call? I wouldn't pay 2500 even as a consumer

All of these cars look like money pits as a retail buyer.

These auction prices are still to high, dealerships are going to be massive trouble paying those prices. That Toyota 4Runner was like a $5,000 vehicle auction price. It is 13 years old with almost 200k miles! Flipped its like a $8,000 vehicle in this current market. You need to think about banks. What bank is going to fiance a 13 year vehicle with 200k miles. Its not 2020 anymore.

I have stains similar to that on my ceiling. Here's what happened: I brewed hot coffee and immediately put it into one of those contego travel mugs to take on my commute to work. Pressure built up in it and the first time I opened the valve the coffee exploded in my face, which made me jump in reaction, and shot coffee splatters all over. The black coffee splatters look like someone somehow sharted all over the ceiling on my car.

Prices still seem high for overall condition especially the interiors and mileage that those cars have. I wouldn’t even pay the auction price for those 😂

I know this Channel is geared more towards an American audience; but I thought you may find this interesting. In Canada, we have six major Banks. The Bank of Montreal announced over the weekend they are no longer making Car Loans to Consumers via Dealership Financing; they are exiting that line of business completely. The Bank of Montreal says they are taking too many losses on bad Car Loans.

Definitely prefer the way this is cut. Reviewing the car as it goes through is definitely better in my opinion.

Wow I am shocked by how much that 4runner went for. Makes me feel good that I paid LESS for a GX470 with less miles a few months ago.

Looked for a nice used car for my daughter over the weekend. All had 150k plus. Asking prices were nothing les than 15k. What a joke

My niece and nephew left an unopened can of soda in my car I didn't know about. Sitting in the las vegas heat long enough it exploded and trashed the headliner.

Even repos are super high! Crazy prices! The prices need to come way down!

The thing about repos you got to assume the engine and transmission is toast because lack of maintenance and 10-15k oil change intervals.

My 98 ford rangers cost me 4500 fifteen years back with under 65k miles, now is 370k, has 5speed manual transmission, had a new clutch and timing belt a couple of years ago ,still strong with everything functioning as it should

Unfortunately 2 weeks after purchasing a new car , I left a can coke in car which exploded and sprayed the ceiling of my car. I was so sad lol. But this is how i experienced the dirty ceiling

Wow. A lot of the dealer paid prices are what I'd expect the cars to be sold for on their lots. It's going to take another year for prices to come back to earth isn't it?

Stains on the ceiling, from my experience is the kid in the back seat messing with his drink and flinging drink up on the ceiling. I had this issue with a particular cup my son used that had a fold down straw and he would fling the straw open and juice would fly out. He doesn't use this cup anymore, but it's a popular toddler cup.

You ever leave an unopened can of soda in a car when it's 100 degrees outside? That's how you get those stains on the liner, from the can exploding.

Stains on ceilings is soda pop cans being opened and the little bit of spew spots.

$16K for a 14 year old 4Runner that's pretty rough too? Seems crazy.

IMO Dealers are still paying too much for these vehicles. ESPECIALLY that 4Runner. That was REDICULOUS.

I noticed stains on my interior ceiling and mainly on my drivers side. Realized it was from me opening and shutting my coffee cup, I’d take a sip then close it so it wouldn’t spill but the residual liquid wolf splatter up on the interior ceiling

The roof stains dont look like shit stains, probably from soda or coffee that went airborne when someone hit a pothole or two.

Stains on the ceiling of vehicles. I didn’t think it was possible until I had kids and mom always carried treats for them… Worst stain was when the kids got a little older and mom bought sodas for them and the coke in the Can shot straight up into the ceiling 🤦‍♂️

That is insane mileage on that 2015 Challenger. I have a 2015 Charger R/T and I just broke 83K miles on it. Whoever previously owned it definitely put some serious wear and tear.

Never heard of a straight drive before. Researched it appears to be a regional NC term.

A car repossessed because the owners can’t afford to make the payments was likely neglected on maintenance for the same reason. Probably never had an oil change.

16 grand for a 13 year old 4 Runner with 180 000 miles at an auction. I think it's safe to say 4 Runner resale values are doing just fine.

That "jacked up" Jeep Wrangler has some fancy "extras", the "vents" in the floor boards will keep the passengers nice and cool during "off roading"!

You're asking about how those stains got on the ceiling of that car, I can tell you it's a food splash while eating ... lol

When I was a kid my mom left a few cans of soda in the back during winter and they ruptured, spraying soda all over. That's one way of getting stains on the ceiling.

I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a new to me 4x4. I got a 2018 4runner TRD Off Road with 96k. It's super clean and most of those miles were highway. 1 owner, full-service records.

I bought a manual Chevy Colorado basic truck new, in 2005. Paid ~ $10,000 for it. Still driving it today, with ~ 270,000 miles. It has been rock solid with only minor issues(brakes, water pump, master flow valve and AC fan modules).

I knew the owner of a small used buy here pay here lot in town in the 60's through the 80's. He would go to all the big dealers in the bay area and Sonoma county and buy their old trade ins that were too crappy for them to sell. He very seldom paid over $200 each. He would then call a bunch of his buds (my first ex and I included), cram as many as possible in whatever good running vehicle he had and we'd go to the dealers and attempt to drive the new buys back to his lot. He'd give us like 10 or 15 bucks each, and buy lunch. Then came the fun. How many would actually make the 60 to 80 mile drive (with a 12 mile mountain passage) back home. Almost never all of them. It was hilarious and a great way to spend the day if you were collecting unemployment or something LOL. He always said on the stuff he financed that the down payment paid for what he had in it, and all he carried was the profit. He was a great guy and always did real well. Doug Even, if you are still with us, it was great times we had! If not, RIP my brother, you are remembered fondly.

This is WILD to me. I just bought a 2015 Porsche Cayenne diesel that was one owner, corporate vehicle, service records every 5k miles, only 86k miles on the odometer and looks brand new inside and out. Paid $25k cash. Now mind you, I had to do some searching and found this vehicle out of state, but I didn’t mind that for a good deal. Plan on doing an overland build on it. I could never see buying one of these auction vehicles, they look like they all have been rode hard and put up wet.

Dirty headliners, horrible streets in Houston plus having any food or drink opened while driving. The second one for me is climbing out from under after doing maintenance and realizing the back of my head is dirty and try to wipe it off with dirty hands and brush the headliner with them. Every time. I never do it on other peoples cars I work on.

I'm almost 50 years old and consider myself a lifelong car nut and I've never heard of a manual transmission called a straight drive. Must be a southern thing.

Thank you again for your continued efforts to show us what is happening at the car auctions. I would really like to see more vehicles around the 100k range. I am not handy with vehicles, so most of what you are showing is higher mileage than I am comfortable with because I would not be able to do any work on it myself if I had a problem. I also think 100k is a sort of sweet spot for a lot of us that is between the new vehicles and much older ones. Toyota and Honda values always very much appreciated as well. :)

Every limousine i drove had blood splatter on the headliners / glass roofs. It was disgusting. We couldn't figure out how or why.

Those prices! Amazing! A year ago I bought a Camry XLE V6 totally clean with 75K miles for $5,250. In Mexico.

I've never heard of "straight drive" in my life and my dad had a shop for 40 years.

Exploding soda is the normal culprit for headliner stains. Sometimes a brake slam.

Stains on the ceiling? Sippy cup falls on the floor and whatever liquid inside can just shoot up in the air.

I get that there’s an entire culture that exists around customizing Wranglers, but I don’t understand the insane money being dropped into those trucks that don’t really do much to add value to the price of the vehicle at resale or if the truck is wrecked.

stains on the headliner is normally a mix of low class people, bad driving and large fast food cups with soda that shoots through the straw when the low class person is on their cell phone and they need to slam on the breaks or some other type of maneuver.

im so confused. a 2010 forerunner with 180000 goes for 16k but I go to trade in my 2014 Outback with 170k great condition all service records and they offer me 3k Please help me understand this.

are used car dealers purposely over paying for these junk repos just for lot inventory ? watching garbage sell as if it were gold is laughable

My buddy has a 11 ranger 135k miles, he bought it for 12k when it had 15k miles. I see his same ranger listed for 11-15k with over 150k miles. His truck actually GAINED value.

2010 4runner with almost 200K miles for $16K is about 8 grand too much IMO, vehicle is almost 14 Years old

I had to laugh at the question about stains in the headliner, especially coming from a guy. A soda can is plausible but I used to be in high school and I know what happens in cars.

Tell you what, being in MA if I drive 45 min in any direction I can be in 5 different states. It took me 45 min just to cross Orlando on the freeway last week. The size of the rest of the country is completely lost to New Englanders. I’d grab a southern state Toyota with 200k miles on it in a second.

I had a tenant in California once who splattered the kitchen ceiling on purpose by tossing food upward when his friends were over. The place had 12 foot high ceilings and he still put food up there. The ceiling spots are either in-car combat situations between an upset couple or an upset Uber or Lyft customer causing the driver problems, getting physical with him One thing you learn if you're a landlord (or a sheriff deputy or a hotel operator or..... etc) is that the range of human behavior *_IS VAST_* People's behaviors can EASILY revert to chimpanzee/gorilla antics, with wild flailing of hands and arms and all other types of UNCIVIL acts. Especially those poor Uber/Lyft drivers. Lots of youtube videos on them. .

I just had my truck repoed after only 2 months behind due to me losing mobility in my left hip (disabled vet) so we had a loss of income not to mention the increase in cost of living. I managed to catch up on everything, but when i tried to pay my loan to current, they actually refused to accept the payment to make it current

I chatted with a loan officer at the bank about a used car I liked. Short version: cash only for a 13 year old car, because they aren't putting a note on it.

Kids climbing over seats and throwing their dirty shoes up toward ceiling is a nice way to get stains up there!

I wouldn't give a dime for any of these used cars. That is because most people don't do the proper maintenance on these cars. I always buy new and keep my cars a minimum of 15 years. Got to get my money's worth.

Brandon, one way is to open a dark can drink soda "Coke, Pepsi or etc." & it spews up when you pop the tab or a open top of a cup of coffee & you hit the brakes suddenly & it splashes every where. My Daddy years ago had left a unopened can drink in the cup holder in his truck one HOT summer day, the pop top opened it's self to release pressure & splattered the inside roof of the cab, dash & vinyl seats, the whole inside of the truck, what a sticky dried mess.

Thats some crazy auction prices. Seems like you can find better deals than that online if your willing to travel and pick vehicles up. Guess it’s just that market, people would pay half that in my area with those miles. Like the videos though.

Stains on ceilings......my wife had her door open and dropped a glass of Pepsi as she entered. It fell on the driveway and splattered everywhere including a little on the car 🚗 ceiling,😅.

Hello Mr. & Mrs. Brandon and Alex: Thank you for this video with the inside used car action + the educational portion of your video with some of the used car lingo that's used on a daily basis within your field. The White pickup truck with the stained headliner looks like water stains. Now the Toyota with the rub marks in the headliner is quite a different situation. Either a mechanic with a soiled hat hit his head or there was some horizontal mombo going on in the back. Thank you for all you do + taking care of your family / business. Stains on the ceilings are from when someone opens a soda bottle/can and it explodes onto the ceiling and anything else in the vehicle.

I didn’t see one auctioned car that I would have bought. Especially the price they sold at. Definitely hard pass on what they would be asking for at their lot.

So very glad I don't need any newer vehicles because these prices are horrendous for 200k mile vehicles

At 8:02 - $4800 is a great price. My 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid has 193k miles and is still in great shape.

Stains on the ceiling = kids! Kids are the destroyer of nice cars. I've seen it in person. Had a friend buy a brand new 2004 RX 350 and his kid did about $5k in damage the first week. :P

If I can make a recommendation, please consider purchasing used sedans from Honda and Toyota. Everyone wants an SUV so you can still find a reasonable price on sedans. If you stay with models known for reliability you are probably better off.

If they weren't charging stupidly high prices for them, maybe they'd sell them. I can't believe the prices. As to stuff on the headliner; Could be bugs. Places with a lot of bugs like south Texas can wind up with a lot of smashed bugs on the headliner.

Any carbonated drink that "pops" open will throw drink on the ceiling and over time it turns a yummy brown color. Children are great at this 😅

I would stay away from that dodge Challenger with all those miles. The 5.7L V8 has pretty weak lifters. Ever heard of the hemi tick ?

Coworker gives me a free beer from a six pack he was given for winning a prize, I put it in my awkward shaped cupholder and on the drive home from work it absolutely explodes and rockets dark beer everywhere inside my car - glass from the bottle tinking off my sunglasses. To explain ceiling stains.

Stains are likely from a open cup and going over a pothole or speed bump at speed. Thuss sending the contents of said cup to the ceiling or Kidd's.
