I don't know what Pennsylvania alarm assignments consist of but if they go by the same protocol we did in Michigan anytime Central Dispatch used the word school or hospital in an assignment it automatically became a BOX. We could stay in service until we knew exactly what the situation was and then be clear and available.

1 fire truck for the hose, 1 for the man to hold the hose, 1 for the man to start the pump, 1 to hold a forcible entry tool, 1 truck for the man to use the forcible entry tool, 1 to truck to connect to the hydrant and 1 truck for the man to turn the hydrant on. That should just about cover it!

It's a reported fire on a school grounds. Any good dispatcher is going to auto tone out for 2 additional responding. The BC pry just didn't think to cancel additional responding lol.

No we respond 1 engine to a vehicle fire. I have been around departments like those. Usually they have stations to close to each other and dispatch multiple stations to add to call volume. Not only does this cost the taxpayers but it usually results in companies racing each other to a call and causes unsafe driving of responding apparatus

Looks like multiple volunteer companies. Due to the nature of volunteer response, my department will roll apparatus until IC transmits under control (with the exception of medical calls, which are just the ambulance and ALS responder). However, unlike Pennsylvania, we're not mutual aiding other departments for a car fire. Typically the chief on scene will hold with the first-out engine and occasionally a second-due. I would honestly be embarrassed to ask our dispatcher to start mutuals for a car fire.

Someone should remind the operator of rescue 62 that our job as firefighters is to protect the lives and property of the people we serve and our fellow firefighters, not put them in jeopardy. Absolutely ridiculous driving for a unit WITHOUT a crew that will be second arriving to a car fire.

Imagine a motorist making a abrupt move in the path of this fast moving heavy rescue. Worst than litigation, is having to live with inuring/killing someone responding to a car on fire.

It's so funny to see just about every man within 50 miles who is a volunteer come flying to a car fire SEE YA BOSS I HAVE A FIRE TO GO TO then they just stand around when they get there I THINK I'm gonna become a volunteer fire fighter just to get time off work
