Any recommendations on videos or channels that do car maintenance or repair tutorials targeted toward women who know very little about cars? Or any interest in making such videos??? I just changed my tail light after watching tutorials that didn't prepare me for the fact that my Jeep Patriot apparently relies on the mechanic's upper body strength to put the pieces back together. I see no good reason that being an out-of-shape couch potato should prevent me from doing something as simple as changing a tail light!

Hey girl, I like the video for the editing and the fact that you’re at least trying to not be a “shop princess” like you claimed you have said about yourself in the past. With that being said, here’s some advice for not only yourself but for all the other woman out there who are learning from you. Diesel oils are thicker than non diesel oils. That’s because of friction, heat, and the way those engines break down those oils. Piston engines and Diesel engines do not have the same combustion rates nor do they create the same friction thus creating different amounts of heat at different levels of performance. You should ALWAYS first and foremost consult your engines manufacture before changing your oil! NOT a retail associate at an Autozone because they’re Goobers for the most part anyway and have no clue what they’re talking about. Most of the time they will have less experience working on cars than you have. And that goes for most people and most automotive retail stores. It never hurts to get a second or third or fourth or even fifth opinion. “The smaller the number, the better it will flow. So a 5W-30 will flow easier than a 10W-30 at start-up temperatures and a 10W-30 will flow easier than a 10W-40 at normal engine operating temperatures. This is important, as engine oils naturally thicken as they cool and thin as they are heated. Thin, low viscosity oils flow easier to protect engine parts at cold temperature. Thick, high viscosity oils are typically better at maintaining film strength to protect engines at high temperatures” - Castrol Valvoline (one of the best oil manufacturers out there - ask Rob Dahm) recommends 0w-20 for your particular engine and there is a reason for that. Engine oils and diesel oils can be mixed to a certain degree, however the additives are not the same and can cause the systems that use those oils to become clogged. It’s important to know that thicker oils and thinner oils, depending on what you use, will effect your oil pressure when the engine is cold and at operating temperature. These changes if significant can affect the way your engine is cooled by the oil you’re putting into it. One last thing, don’t tell people not to mix oil and gasoline because rotary engines exist and so do dirt bikes, four wheelers and motorcycles - all of which can and do use a mixture of oil and fuel and it goes right into the gas tank 👍🏻 Hope this helps!
My engine calls for 5w30/ 5w40. If I buy an engine oil rated for diesels to use, in the same viscosity, it is the same viscosity. It does have different additives, that include detergents and more zinc to stop oil passageways from clogging and to ensure bearings stay healthy. @@turboglam Regardless, it’s not something you should recommend people do. It’s not practical and will cause you problems in the long run. There are reasons beyond your comprehension for oils being diesel specific and gasoline specific. You should do some more research regarding those differences and why they’re important. You should also reevaluate your opinion of oils because there are better companies out there 😂 Also, like I said, you were wrong about mixing oil and gasoline. Which means you speak of things you know nothing about. I’m not bashing you, don’t get offended. I’m only informing you of what you do not know. As someone who has become a staple in the automotive community for woman, you should strive to give them the best you can and giving them the wrong information isn’t the best you can do, is it?
Thats your opinion and you are entitled to it, I have no issue telling people a better option for engine oil. I believe in my opinion based on my own research and experience. I made a joke, about how the only thing making a diesel oil only usable on diesels is if there was fuel in the oil, its a nerdy joke that you didn’t get. Because you change your oil for many reasons but one definitely being fuel dilution. Not talking about a specialty engine here either. Maybe you should take some advice from me instead and understand that I am not anybody’s role model, I am an educated individual who makes videos and media content online. Women like me are smart enough to do their own research and determine what is best for them. Learn from that
